G2 Core 44 Axle Assembly, Dana 35 upgrade, Dana 44

3504 + 875 for the elocker... By my math, that makes the axle about 4400 bucks, before any other options... It's a lot more than 2k for a lockers, gears and labor.

Plus, 37s will tear up a 44 or 30 up front. Gears

Just built a ford 8.8 for 3100 on their website… didnt add bells and whistles, but did add locker and chromoly shafts
Crap missed the brakes, 3385

I’ve always joked that if you are building for 37’s, you are building for 40’s - because there is no such thing as a Dana 52…

That price includes the e-locker. I already selected all the options. That $3,504 is with the $200 freight as well…

Sourcing brakes yourself is cheap. I redid a set of rear Grand Cherokee calipers and got the new backing plates/parking brake set up from Black Magic Brakes. Easy enough and cost effective…

If his end goal is really 37’s he shouldn’t be asking about Super 35/Dana 44 rear differentials for sure. Most of the guys talking 37s rarely even make it to 35s. Just my experience/opinion…

To successfully run 37s for any length of time you’ll need 60s or better. Unless you’re just driving Miss Daisy around town with the Jeep…

Are you saying the Dana489 from ECG isn't up to the task of 37s?

JK guys run 37s all the time with the same ring & pinion. I see a lot of them break and then they go 60s. I see a lot of them live and seem just fine as well. It really depends on what a person is doing with their Jeep…

Me personally, I would never feel comfortable on 37s with a 44 if I was doing more than just leisurely driving around. I like to overbuild things. I am not a huge fan of maybe having enough…

There's a fairly enthusiastic group of JK axle swap cheerleaders on FB who are running 40's. Any time someone asks about how good the JK shit is, they jump in and overwhelm anyone who is trying to post up common sense about how crappy those axles are for even 37's.

Later, from a little to a lot later, they seem to forget all that bullshit when they start posting build pics of them swapping 60's under their rigs. If that JK bullshit was so fucking awesome, why the 60's?

This G2 semi-float 60 has a lot in common with a built 44. Set 10 bearings and 35 spline shafts.
It does but what it doesn't have is smallish thin wall axle tubes like a TJ 44 does. We have a few folks running them on 37's and they have held up nicely over the years. The owners are always worried about the Set 10 bearings but so far, they have not shown themselves to be a problem. I tell them the same thing as always, we'll fix them when they show us they need to be.

Good to know. Thanks.
