What did you do to your TJ today?

The Government and the Police will not protect you. Buy guns and ammo.

Wasn’t joking when said “rural area”? Parents farm is 45 minutes from any local police force, if they answer. Have never been fan of government regardless of party. All of us boys knew where guns and ammo were, as well as how to correctly use them, from time we could properly hold the 20 gauge.

New rear bumper. I know some people are not fans of metalcloak.
The price was right and had the features I want. So I’m happy with it.

They accidentally sent me two passenger side frame tie-in brackets so I’ll have to install that once they ship it out to me.

Gained a ton of departure angle. Especially since I removed the low hanging U-Haul hitch that the previous owner had installed.

Took delivery on a Trektop Nx. Ordered on Sunday From Morris4x4 in NJ and got it yesterday. Haven't opened the box yet to see if I got the tramp-stamp version or not, but I have the AlbaChem Heat Transfer Vinyl Letter Remover in my Amazon cart just in case.

Finished installing the OBA over the weekend. Got the front QR coupler done, but still need to decide on a location for the rear. Got all the hardware to do the rear, but might skip it. The TJ is small enough that a coil hose can reach to the back with ease.

I was feeling lazy and decided to contact a local shop that does wraps. I just need to cover the bad "dried bug guts" paint from the PO. I bought the 3M 2080 gloss flame red vinyl (same thing they use) for under $30. I'm just doing the windshield frame and hood cowl. Their email quote gave me a huge laugh/shock.

p.s. I don't feel that lazy anymore. I just needed some motivation.

"Thanks for confirming.
Cost to wrap the hood cowl and windshield frame would be $800.
We are booking new appointments for late July at the moment, and we do require a 50% deposit at time of scheduling.
Please let me know if you have questions.'
Thank You

You can absolutely do the cowl and frame yourself.

Put the top fully down for the first time this year and drove it to work as we are having a mini heatwave this week.
I drive it to work every day.. and put the top down every day (almost)

Ok... what's the backstory on this? Had I known it was legal to do that to my kid when she was two...

Yeah it sucks ...... It sucks that I saw it and I now have to spend 300 instead of 129 for the Barnes .

But then when I add the braces the difference is 110 and what's a extra 100 or so to have something that extends on out and looks as nice as it does .... so okay thanks for the post even though it cost me more money....... you suck LOL !

This past weekend:

Replaced the rear seat belt buckle receivers, one broke and I wanted to replace not repair due to safety. I needed the correct torx size and came to this great forum for the answer, @Jerry Bransford posted it a few years ago. I did not need to hit it with heat, just an extended socket wrench.

I also removed the top completely. I keep the TJ in the garage and only take it out if there is zero chance of rain. I like the look with no top folded down in the back plus it is less noisy. If we head to the shore I will throw it on again and fold it back in case it is needed over multiple days.

Well cut an access hole in my HVAC box to see why my ac was not cooling. More debris and mice nesting material and a mouse. Once cleaned, sprayed a hose on both sides of the evap, vacuumed and cleared the drain. Adjusted the mouse chewed temperature door(does not seal all the way) started the Jeep and turned the ac on. It was 86 degrees this morning at 8am in Louisiana. AC was reading 60 degrees, not the best but will do for now. I see a dash removal in my future.

The old Dodge Cummins guys drill a hole in the hvac box and then seal it up with a removable marine door for just this very reason. https://www.amazon.com/Boat-Cabin-Vents-Deck-Plates/b?ie=UTF8&node=3397581

I’ve been wanting to hit Parsons!

its a good one for a nice easy day, I think next time I do it I think ill wait and do it after a good rain storm to see if its any different. We stopped at the HUB at the 129/72 junction not cheap but food was good, and took 72 all the way back to home to Roane co, good little trip about 140ish mile round trip.

I like that how much does it weigh ?

Heat index of 105 today. Finished my last final of the quarter and had to get out of the house for a bit so we came down to the dog beach near my house. I can hike to this river from my house(roughly up that hill on the other side) but it’s takes about 15 minutes to get down there and it’s too hot for my dog for that. Oh… I drove my Jeep down here.

Our lakes out here are drying up. :(

Though I have been out putting the Jeep back together. It's hot out.
