What did you do to your TJ today?

Got the proper tool. My biggest 1/2" breaker bar + a floor jack handle for a cheater, set the tank against the Ford tire, steady hard pull, and POP!
Darn!
Filing the plastic was easy. Gonna get a second pair of hands to help the old man set the tank and ride trails Saturday. It's sure to take fuel now.

Gonna require my big buddy to show up and put downward pressure on the fuel pump ring tool to compress the new o-ring enuf to turn the steel ring back on. Might heat gun the o-ring.. or lay it in the sun.

That's weird , I wonder what could be the difference. Mine is a 97 too and I have the same problem you have , why I was looking at these. I didn't see that it said doesn't work on 97 so thanks for that heads up. I think I will shoot a question off to these guys and ask them why !
The link to the one for 120.00 said fits 97-99 and with pipe , I am going with that. I am going with stainless all the way back , I just saw the one for 77 and threw that in.

I ordered the one from eBay so worst case I’ll return it. They both said that they fit all 2.5l yj and tj models but then further down the page they both said no 97. Like what the actual fuck? Lol states that it fits 97-99 tj 2.5 L4 engines except the 99,98,& 97 🤷🏼‍♂️Regardless I’m buying one and going to try it out so I’ll keep you posted. The one from eBay is a o. b. o so I offered $75 and they took it

On the drive to work this evening I figured out how to install my new outer shift boot and retainer. I slipped the rubber over the shifter lever before pulling out of my driveway and halfway through my 8 minute drive to work I had it snapped in to place lol it does give the interior a more “complete” look

I swapped out my shifter, in that time the plastic clip thing broke. New one arrived, I still aint got the boot back on properly.

Well, attempted to do a lot today - failed at some, did not complete others... Got my fog light wiring extensions - they were not extensions, they were adapters - and wrong plugs on both ends... Not the most money in the world thrown away, back to drawing board. Replaced the screws missing from my double din replacement - clipped it all back together. It fits about 95% - which leaves 5% of annoyance (about a 3/8" gap between the panel and my AC controls). Tried to install my Arizona Rocky Road radio mount - It is in upside down and loose now - wrong length bolts. Attempted to put on the Bulldawg hardtop (mostly test fitting). Yep, it is heavy. Got 7 of the 8 bolts installed, will have to fish the remaining nut out of a crevice in daylight. That said, all the nuts will need to come out so I can install the trim foam, plus I need to pull off the plastic from the windshield brace and put in the 3rd front connection. Right now there is about a 1/2" gap between the hardtop and the windshield in the front of the hard top. I am not overly worried about the gap - there was a brace on the crate to protect it during shipping, and it has sat in the sun for about 3 or 4 weeks now - so it will probably settle a bit (plus there is the toggle that will pull it down. More worried about moving my switch pro that is directly where that 3rd front connection needs to be. Then put the Pioneer platform on - that was easy as it was already installed and I only removed it to make the top a tad lighter when trying to lift it onto the Jeep. Kind of wish I would have gone with the 54" wide platform over the 49" - but I realize there are compromises both ways. I also used some snake oil plastic restorer on a fender - will see how long the one fender remains more black.

Anyway - will hopefully be able to get replacement bolts for the radio mount tomorrow morning, and sometimes over the weekend attempt to finish the top install. Might use the snake oil on the other 3 fenders before I take pictures. Really hoping to do a road noise test this weekend - perhaps with and without the Pioneer Platform. But I really need to get the hard top fully installed first-as that 1/2" gap is going to be one hell of a wind catcher.

Hey a couple of bucks is a couple of bucks LOL ! I am going with all stainless so I was looking at the one for 120 because it comes with the front pipe so all I need is the Cat , stainless muffler and back pipe in stainless . Whole system just around 400 in stainless, works for me !

Do not use a bigger hammer.

We know a guy with a BFH in his Garage.

Sold the Dana 30 and Dana 35 axles that I pulled out when I put the 44s in

Now I have more money for Jeep parts!

Those axles sell for cheap on Craigslist in Phoenix. Hope you made out well on the sale. Used Dana 44's though, the prices are outrageous.

$600. Honestly didn’t think I’d get that. Dana 30/Dana 35 with 3.07s Pretty worthless IMO
I figured I’d be taking them to the scrap yard!

I kept my Dana 30 but swapped in an overpriced Dana 44 rear from a junkyard. Had the shop that did me regear just scrap the Dana 35.

Maybe I missed it somewhere, but why did you use this particular filter?

I use WIX on my 4.0L, but its a 51085.

This 51515 looks to fit older CJs; is it the same diameter, just taller, i.e. holds more oil?
That is correct. Its the same size, just taller. I've always used larger filters when I can. They cost the same within a few pennies, and as often as the oil gets changed, I only change the filter every other time.
