Let's see your wheels!

I bought it in Baltimore on spring break in college and have driven it all over the country from Baltimore to NYC and Jersey shore then down to South Carolina and back up to Chicago and then from Chicago to Key West and back and then from Tucson to Huntington Beach and back.

I see why you had the beer cooler. That's a lot of driving on Spring break. 🥳 ;)

12v yes. AC? She'll do 75 purring like a sewing machine with the windows down to the end of the Earth and back. If it's cold outside then there's your AC 😂

Beautiful ride! My brother had a 63' with shag carpet everywhere, including the steering wheel and top. I think drugs were legal back then. 🤫

1963 VW on smoothies
1600dp with full bolt ons from CB Performance.

So it's been from coast to coast. Did almost a full resto last year with a parts list a mile long all new chrome all new wires and bulbs all bolt ons from long block up new trans with taller gears, tri mill exhaust etc. She's my baby and my first born. Before the wife and kids and dogs. Tons of other toys and vws have came and gone but I'll ride out into the sunset in this one.

Good lord.. that is sweet. If only it could talk and share stories about where it’s been…
There were two ‘63’s that passed through my life. Owned neither. Both were the same color as yours with a red interior. At least they started that way.

My brother had a bone stock, fully restored ‘63 for about a week. Long story but the short version is the guy he bought it from must have not have realized what he had and conjured a story about misunderstanding on the purchase price… who would let a teen aged buyer take a mint ‘63 home without a clear understanding as to the purchase price? Anyway, my brother had to give it back.

Good friend of mine just hacked up a ‘63 into a wide body with a worked mid-engine mounted 2.0 16v with dual side drafts. Fuch’s wheels. Caged interior. And of course, sporting a Herbie paint job and all the 53’s. Few know Herbie was a ‘63. I’ll see if I can find his Instagram page.

I had a mint ‘71 Kharmann Ghia that I sold for a Triumph TR8.. Regret selling both of them.

Mine has the red or oxblood interior. My favorite part about owning the car is the stories I get from everybody else sharing memories. And obviously the ones I've made with it.

Every. Damn. Time. I. Stopped. For. Gas. Best was an old woman who stopped next to us at a light. She said she had stories of what she did in them in the '60s. Hahaha.

BTW, Oxblood is a damn good Oi! band.

Those are nice. Are those 15x8? What’s the backspacing on them?

backspacing is 3.75"

They are starting to show some wear, but still hanging in there.

I have the same Pro Comps on my mind that the PO installed. They wouldn't be my first choice and the "bolts" are insanely flashy for my taste. But, yours give me hope! lol I'm trying to figure out a way to paint the bolts black that isn't a nightmare.
