Stretched LJ on 40s

Fenders are in. My hood has a few hail dents, so I didn't have any issue with trimming the hood for the highline fenders. I'll eventually look for a AEV hood or a rep of one, but for now with my budget and timeline, this one will do just fine.

Pictures like this get me a little excited.

A little update.

I've been cutting and grinding my life away getting rid of the stock control arm brackets, shock towers, etc off of the frame. I tried to give a plasma cutter a go but it kept popping the breaker in my garage. So somethings off with my wiring or the plasma itself, which is unfortunate. So its been cut off wheels the whole way. I'm just about done with it, almost to the point where the tear down is complete and its only welding and throwing parts on from here out (I wish it was that easy).

So more parts have rolled in.

70in wide Tera60s. Teraflex doesn't really do custom widths, but because I worked there at the time of ordering them, I was able to get them at the extra wide 70in width. I was also able to go in and weld the brackets I need for the PSC and coilovers before sending them out to powder. Super stoked to get these.

That thing looks rad man! Looks like a lot of fun. I may have questions for you a long the way!

Anything you need, just ask. Prob a lot different goals here in the Midwest versus Utah. I collected parts for about a year before stripping it down last November. I had help and it still took a long time to do it just working the odd Saturday.

Nice hoods are overrated.

Had a little time to get the rear axle underneath and throw some of the wheels and tires on. I still need to order the custom corner guards and don't really know how far I want to stretch the rear on my LJ. I think LJs CAN (not always) look weird stretching too far and am trying to go as far back as I can without it looking odd.

I'm hoping to get the gas tank mounted and body trimmed this week so that I can decide on where I want the rear axle and get corner guards and rockers/sliders ordered. Once those are ordered and I'm waiting for them to be made (supposedly 4-6 weeks) I'll focus on getting the rest of the brackets welded in on the rear and then focus on the front.

I don't mean to alarm you, but someone put a Cowboys sticker/magnet on your Jeep! Just wanted to let you know before you went driving around with that thing back there! lol

I cannot get that sticker off haha. Floss/fishing line wont work. I might just have to get a blade to scrape it off and potentially damage the paint. would be worth it though haha.

Found a couple LJs with rear stretch similar to what I'm shooting for with mine. I don't know a ton about the red one, the sting grey one is a local guy to me and I've been admiring his build for a bit. His revkit link is below. Not sure if either of these guys are on here.

Anything would be worth that! I can send you a piece black vinyl to put over it like a bad cover up tattoo! 🤣 I mean you could take a flapper wheel to it and get it off since you're planning on corner armor? You'd have more peace of mind knowing that it's not still hiding underneath.

Are you moving the frame wheel arch? Must be something in the air around here, I’m right in the middle of stretching my LJ.

Wasn't planning on it, for now. With the 40s and running coils instead of shocks and springs, I don't think I'll need to. I have a few friends running similar amounts of stretch with similar builds and they haven't run into issues yet.

I guess we'll see.

What front shock towers are those? And whose rear corner armor are you going to be using for the build?

I bought these from Ben Falkner, president of Teraflex. He had them designed for his personal TJ and has a few extras. I'll just have to fab up my own tower brace. The rear towers are from him as well.

I'm planning on going with Nemesis for the rear corner armor.

Moving the frame arch isn’t really a requirement to stretching, but it does allow you to move the rear crossmember up, allows for more uptravel, and aesthetically looks much better to have the axle centered under the center of the arch.
