I think bashing in the bottom of the tub puts a lot of people off of the GR. Because I guess that's less reversible than drilling 50 holes in the tub.

The mini-boatside aspect is very cool.

But if the scratches on mine are any indication, I rub on the tube steps way before I can use the gains created by beating in the tub.

He also wants to keep his Jeep as light as possible. Savvy is not the lightest possible.
Savvy's is also not 100% aluminum which for some needs is not strong enough. That's why Savvy has a replaceable rub rail that is heavy steel and strong enough to hold up to big rocks. If all aluminum is strong enough and big rocks won't be involved sobeit.

Just need 10 min with a grinder. But it is annoying to cut off half of what I paid for.

Trust me, it takes a lot longer than 10 minutes to get them off cleanly so it doesn't look like you did it.

That and you are looking at it backwards. You didn't pay for something to defeat the benefit of a boat side. You are converting them to be what you paid for.

You’re not wrong.

Well then I paid too much, even with the discount.

If you understood Savvy's incredible quality, strength, and great designs you'd understand why so many do what they can to get Savvy products. It's a very small company that designs for and caters to a select group of enthusiasts who wheel hard so it doesn't have the resources larger companies do.

Colt used to be a top notch firearms manufacturer, and that's the reason people still swear by them, but they are fucking junk now and aren't worth the hassle trying to get one to run properly. Just because they "used to be a good company" guarantees nothing these days. May have to face the facts and move on! Just sayin! :(

Are you really claiming that Savvy's quality has dropped by your describing how Colt's quality has dropped? WTF does Colt have to do with Savvy's inability to keep parts in stock?

....

Having gone through the process of building our own mini boatsides, it might be alarming to know how appropriately priced GR actually is for an out of the box option. Making your own is a lot of work and a lot of nickel and diming.

How so? Seems like it’s just hardware and backing plates.
