Colorado Krew Hangout

there are things i really like about this state,

i’ve been aviation my entire adult life.
and with that comes certain life styles,

I just can’t stand every time i go do something around other people in this state. always the scent of pot, and weed.

be it Piles peak hill climb, hiking on some city trail, or last night the two idiots calling CBD oil at the concert

Glad I’m not the only one who hates the smell of it everywhere. Hell some whole city’s like Pueblo West now smell like skunk 24/7 just from the grow houses. It’s just like one of those smells that is instantly offensive to me like how roofing tar is to others.

I'm not big on weed smoke myself. I don't necessarily mind it, but I also don't feel like smelling it 24/7.
But I'll munch on some gummies like it's Halloween candy. The best part, nobody else has a clue that I'm loose as a goose! :ROFLMAO:

But seriously, I'm glad you posted about the Forney Museum.
I've seen it before, and wanted to go, then forgotten what it was called!
It's surely back on my bucketlist for "do this soon".

If you haven't come down to the Penrose Heritage Museum in Colorado Springs you should make a day-trip down to check it out!
It's pretty small, about a 30min-1hour walk-around, and heavily biased towards the Pikes-Peak Racing stuff, but super cool nonetheless.

Admission is free as well, which is super cool.
It's in a good area, with a lot to do, so easy to make a day trip out of it.

Just got home from KOH. How to explain the experience. 🤔

KOH is like taking Burning Man, Mad Max, a rave mixed from heavy metal, rock, pop, techno, Mexican music, country, the Forth of July, a race track and UTV playground, no mufflers, race fuel, v-8 race cars, no roads, mixed with150,000 rednecks and Chicanos messing around 24 hours a day. You will see everything possible there.

We got to help at Pit #1 during the EMC. Loren Healey's pit was 2 down from us. Yep he broke.

What a blast!

I’m glad you had a good time and the rain did not cause too many issues. It does get a little crazy out there.

the aviation museum in C Spring is another i want to check out this year.

That place is just absolutely incredible. They have a hanger called Westpac where they restore WWII planes. They have a lot of the originally tooling from that era. The P47 below will be restored to flying condition.

Something about seeing that in current condition, mixed with the thoughts of it being in the air as an operational plane in the future, is slightly unsettling to my anxiety. :ROFLMAO:

But that might just be my aviation ignorance showing.
I'm just impressed there are people significantly smarter than myself that can take that 'hunk of rusted metal' and make it fly again.

I'm involved in a concrete company. We did the concrete at the Carriage House and the Hill Climb for the Heritage museum. We also did the new visitor center on Pikes Peak. Interesting projects. Cool to have been a part of both.

We say the same thing about @jjvw Jeep looking at his welds.

I was a welder/fabricator for a few years in my early 20's.

I can't poke too much fun, because the last time I welded something I went into it with an ego of "I used to get paid to do this. I know how to do this, sit back and watch"...

Proceeded to lay one of the ugliest welds I've ever laid. :ROFLMAO:

by the time they finish “restoring” that P48. there won’t be much of the original left. it will be like a 1969 Jaguar. Vin plate being the only original piece left.

Yes, talking to the curator that is the way it will work. They pull off everything that is unusable and there will be very little left
