What did you do to your TJ today?

Had to change the oil in the JKU today. Once that was done, I decided to check on a high idle I've been fighting on the TJ. I had already cleaned the IAC and assumed it was a faulty TPS, and just hadn't gotten around to changing it.

Then I remembered a crucial piece of information... While I had in fact cleaned the IAC, that was BEFORE I swapped throttle bodies. So, THIS IAC had in fact not been cleaned. 🤦

A few squirts of TB cleaner later and she seems to be good.

After I met up with @AndyG and @Hog I came back home from Fort Payne.

Took the wife grocery shopping, picked up oil and filter for the oil change, stopped by Tractor Supply for a 50lbs bag of dog food.

Got home, unloaded 400lbs of fertilizer for my dad to use on the garden and yard.

Pulled the Tractor and greased, or tried to, the U-joints on the PTO shaft, got to order an assortment of metric zerks because all I have a ASE.

Pulled the Tractor out and the Jeep in the shop. Changed the oil and filter, greased everything and backed it out of the shop.

Then I fed the dogs and came into the house and sat down on my tired behind.

Oh I did add some decals under the hood.

Holy cow, I’m exhausted just thinking about doing all that in a day.

Installed the Banks Monster cat-back system. I had to modify it a bit because of the bastard exhaust the early 2000's with the California emissions had. The factory muffler just slipped over the cat exit pipe instead of there being a flange there.

The factory boat anchor, I mean muffler, is now gone and it seems to run better. Better get up through all the gears. The factory muffler weighed about 2 times what this Banks one does.

Ignore the gas tank skid plate. If I get time tomorrow it and the fuel pump get changed.

Owned my TJ for about 500 miles. Changed the engine oil and transmission oil. New transmission oil was an absolute game changer.

Don't know which transmission you have, but if it i the 32RH, they are happier slightly overfilled. I got mine about 9 months ago and had all kinds of shifting issues. I replaced some seals, put on a deep trans oil pan, and keep her slightly overfilled and the trans is really smooth now.

Same with the 42RLE too. 😊

Well shit. I think my fuel pump failed. Jeep just quit running and I can’t hear the fuel pump when I turn on the ignition. Fortunately it was only about a quarter mile down a dirt road from my garage. I’m leaning towards the fuel pump because the crank position sensor is pretty new and it is a Mopar unit and the fuel pump has been doing the long crank start thing for quite a while, so I think it’s finally gone.

Crap bro.
