Making my Jeep Wrangler TJ more comfortable

Stock seats break my ass. I looked for options for a while and finally settled on seats from a Hyundai Tiburon. They are very comfortable, supportive and have adjustable height and lumbar support. It was easy to make some quick brackets for the Jeeps seat tracks. There are some other good aftermarket seats but I didn't want to spend a lot of money. My total cost was around $175.
Plus they look really good.

I’m running into an issue where the tib seat slides are hitting my seatbelt roll. Do you happen to remember how you got around this?

I had the same issue. I had to cut a notch in the seat rail to clear the seat belt mechanism on the passengers side. The drivers side has a different mechanism and didn't require any extra clearance. It did take a little trail and error to find the sweet spot. Unfortunately the mechanisms are not interchangeable. The other option is a set of seat risers. I put a set I had lying around in but it felt a little high for me.
You will also need to cut off some of the plastic cover on the inside of the tiburon seats to clear the center console. Once bolted in you'll never notice.

I’ve actually already begun the same thing. The op messaged back pretty quickly but I’d already begun brainstorming 🤔

I took a look at look @PC06 update to the original thread. I like the solution they came up with. I guess I'm just to quick to look for an excuse to use a power tool.😁
I will be removing the rear slider brackets when I re-work the seats this winter.

If you have C rates tires, set your air pressure to 26 psi. It will soften the ride.

I installed seat heaters in mine. I also have some back arthritis in my back and the heat feels good on it. I will say though that with the soft top the heated seats don’t get used in the jeep during the summer as much as they do in our car. We blast the a/c in the car with the heated seats on and it great.

How do I know if I have C rated tires?

I have a 2000 Sahara that I love to drive. Problem is I’m 51 years old ( I know that’s not old for a lot of you ) but I have arthritis in my back and the interior and the seats just aren’t comfortable for riding for a long time. I know a lot of y’all will think just suck it up and drive😄. But if anyone has any suggestions or have done anything to help their Jeep be more comfortable. By the way I just had 4 Rancho shocks installed.

If you can invest in an air ride suspension. That you can control the amount of air from inside your vehicle. Coil over shocks with the resivors and dual front stabilizer shocks. Also a good massager with heat control for your seat. Start with the seat massager first and see if it works first and then the other stuff. It ain't going to be cheap, but it will definitely help. Plus the air ride suspension will lower the vehicle to get in better. Then you can adjust the height.
I have factory massaging seats in my F150 with heating and cool settings and Fox Coil overs with resivors on the front and regular Fox shocks in the back. It's lifted with a BDS 4 inch lift with 35 inch tall tires. Those seats are worth the money to me. If I could put a big screen TV in it. I would stay in it more than the house. But like I tell people who want a Jeep. You don't buy them for comfort. A good ride unless you add what I told you. Quietness. Lots of room. To travel long ways and fuel mileage. They are toys. To let the top down take the doors off and ride in for short trips. That's why a lot of people buy a car trailer and pull it to where their going. Or a younger person buys them that don't have back problems. I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler TJ. That I love, but it has a 4 inch lift with 33 inch tall tires with a Rancho suspension lift and Rancho socks all the way around and the ride sucks and fuel mileage sucks, but when its pretty outside. I love letting the top down and taking the doors off and putting foot pegs where the bottom part of the doors go and I bought some half doors for it to carry in the back, because here in Georgia we get a lot of pop up showers, but it's a fun toy for my wife and I and the kids and grandkids to take short trips in. Long trips it stays at the house and the loaded Platinum F150 rolls out. Good luck to you if you keep it and invest in it.

Get some BMW E92 or E90 seats and install them

https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/bmw-sport-seat-install-in-jeep-wrangler-tj.31189/

Thats what Im doin after seeing another members success. Theyre far more comfortable then 20 year old Jeep seats. I greatly dislike aftermarket seats as they are subgrade Vs factory seats, esp luxury factory seats

I just picked up a pair of powered and heated E90 seats for $100 in pristine condition locally off FB marketplace from a kid that upgraded to the SPORT seats. I may decide to go with the SPORT seats also but couldnt find any locally so Im trying these first

I will need to figure out what circuits and location to supply power to use them but should not be too hard

As someone who daily drives an E90, I've thought many times about putting seats from one in my TJ.

Nothing more comfy than heated, power, leather WJ seats. I used to fall asleep while driving when I had them. Now I do that in my Tesla. 🤫

Wow, those are like a mile off the floor... I love where the factory 2005 seats sit, I'm looking straight out the middle of the windshield. In my JT, the seats sit too high, and I look out at about the 3/4 up mark... would be level with where the TJ rearview mounts to the windshield...
