Woke up to the smell of a burnt up air compressor motor.
Looks like the fitting on the air line gave out & the motor must have been running non stop for quite some time.
I guess not. It's the original motor. I'm researching to replace it right now. Any suggestions? I wonder if I can find one that has a way of keeping itself over heating?
First, make sure it wasn't a wire size issue. Even though the damage was inside the motor (?), it could be that you didn't use large enough wire to the compressor. Look for heat damage in the circuit wiring, too. Then, if there isn't any other signs of heat in the circuit, you only have to worry about the compressor motor. You can likely find a motor to replace it, but it may not make economical sense. Whether you replace the motor or the entire compressor, look for one with thermal overload protection on the motor.
Got it done. Forgot pics of the additional supports in the attic, but they will have to wait until my TJ specific rear hoist hook shows up. I have to spin the top to the side to open and shut the attic stairs door at the moment because the rear window blocks it from opening when it is open.
No wire issues that I can see. Junction box is clean & so is the sub panel. I've got 10/3 wire on a 30 amp breaker. The motor only draws about 15-20 amps.
I was able to find a replacement for a reasonable price. I went with WEG brand because it has thermal protection like you said & it's got a fan to help keep it cool. Also comes with a warranty.

Installed the new compressor motor, but I'm delayed because I cracked the pulley. New one is ordered.
I need a new tank and motor.
Uses my new 1/2" Dewalt 20v impact today on the Kubota Zero turn. Raised the anti scalp wheels up 1 bolt hole.

Don't feel bad, I did similar on a compressor years ago. Changed the compressor head, and the motor needed a different diameter pulley. Broke the first one being stupid, went back to the local store and paid my "stupid tax" and got another one. #metoo

My 15 year old Lab/Shepherd’s hips are giving out meaning stairs aren’t an option anymore. So I built him a couple of ramps.
Found out the garage door button on the wall wasn't working for the second garage door any more. pulled the button off the wall and jumped the wires without any luck.
happened to notice though that the wire at the opener was different than the wire at the button and all the wiring was within the wall and attic so there must be a bad 40 year old butt connector somewhere
Ran new wires up the wall and on the ceiling for both buttons, installed 2 new buttons & 2nd door is back in working order.
figured since I had the vehicles out of the way I might as well clean the floor, spent a few hours dusting equipment off in the driveway, moving things around and vacuuming the floor.

Cleaning up the garage the other day progressed into painting 
. Walls were all heavily smudge marked flat white that was probably painted about 6-10 tenants ago. Yes, the landlord owns the place & no he doesn't give 2 shits what I do here... plus Ive got access to some surplus paint & some time to kill.
Im not a high gloss fan on bad walls let alone walls in general but I figure it will stay fairly clean for a while & be cleanable when I lean stuff up on the walls.
Got 3 of the perimeter walls painted top to bottom now, just finished cutting and rolling above the shelving tonight, also have some touch up nail hole patches to repaint. Ceiling is next on the list to do then I can move stuff away from the 4th wall and finish that side.
Once im done painting walls I can move onto the floor as I also have some leftover drylok garage & basement floor paint left over. So overall, my project is coming along & should finally look nice when im done.
Photo of the same corner when I moved in back a bout 2 years ago. note the missing drywall in the back corner from a active roof leak since before I moved in, I patched the roof last year and put in replacement insulation and drywall. its nice working for a builder.. I think the waste materials figure is somewhere around 18-20% so theres always plenty of materials available for the little around the house repairs that otherwise I take to the landfill.

Rolled 2 coats of paint on the ceiling tonight and got a second coat on the walls above the shelving. Come to find out what I thought was high gloss paint is just semi gloss. High or low gloss... it's still better than flat for walls in a garage IMO.
Just finished first coat of paint after spot priming this morning. got a coat on the ceiling bleed through spots I also primed over with the red/white spray can of kilz.
spent yesterday after work moving all the stuff from this bench wall to the other walls and shelving. its getting old moving stuff from one wall to the other.
