Show me your custom light installs?

I lookup your profile and just scrolled through your 22 pages of images.

Nice rig đź‘Ť

Thanks. It's benign compared to many of the hardcore rigs here, but it's a multi purpose daily driver. I absolutely love it.

Funny you just did that. I just posted in Forum News and Discussions inquiring if there is a way to organize the Images section into albums to make it easier for all to browse the images and maybe reduce the frequency of duplicate images being uploaded. Maybe I really have like 10 pages instead of 22 considering the dupes.

Well done!

Can you tell me more about the rocker switch housing. Is it a commercial product or a 3D printed item?
It is 3D printed, but I got it from Etsy. The same shop had the blanks I used in the lower spots. I plan to use at least 2 of the lowers for front & rear locker switches when I get axles installed later this year.

I'd highly recommend this shop/seller. They worked with me a lot to 3D print spare tire bumper extensions that matched the profile of the rubber bumper.

Black Magic Brakes taillights and a Blaine inspired rear valance with Baja Design auxiliary reverse lights that work both via the transmission and with an override switch.

All auxiliary lighting is controlled through a SwitchPros controller.

I go with KC Lights, I’m an old CJ guy and the TJ is my modernish Jeep but still close enough to old school, but I like that KC look on my TJ and CJ5, personally. I put LEDs on the JK.

I use the Auxbeam for lights and lockers, and will add under rock lights at some point, that will be LED strips.

I had green Halos my son wanted, and wired to the running lights, I found it annoying when I took the TJ back over, just personally.

KC’s ❤️

Motobilt, Amazon later I found out… like Zeppelin said nobody’s fault but mine, taillights that required tub cutting. Also wanted license plate light to function along with third brake so I found these jamb switches and retrofitted. Stuck a golden flasher in steering column and things are good.

Wait.. what?
What does that switch do? Adds a circuit to the door third brake light circuit?
Got a link?

Yes. Original had ground and power. Power is tied to brake light wiring and lit factory 3rd brake light. I tied 3rd contact in to parking lights so I could use as power for plate light. 👍🏻

I think I got mine from Summit but this is probably a deal compared to what I paid. Same brand.

Was the tub already big enough to accept it or did you have to cut it out? I haven't pulled my contacts out to look.

I had to trim a little bit. No big deal. If I recall correctly the switch came with a template. My jeep didn’t have the gate side stuff so I had to eBay it. I believe I had to cut it as well. As u can see I did best I could with plastic cover.

I know some may feel Halo’s and round rear LCD’s are now “2000 and late” but I’m not in that camp.

I would love to see all you custom or modified installs. Even the ones that are not quite there yet.

From Oracle halo rings, to JK light relocations (either turn signal or fog lights) to huge round trailer lights, to multi function set ups (halos that are also turn signals). Basically anything you want.

Also it would be great to hear some of your long term reviews.

I don’t have a complete roadmap of what I want to do but here is my basic idea.

1. JK turn signals relocated to the grill.

2. Daytime front halo (all in one or rings) lights with a on/off rocker switch in cab.

3. Not ugly round LCD taillights.

4. Maybe fog lights for my Warn front bumper?

5. Maybe A Pillar lights?

6. Maybe full windshield bar?

7. Maybe a round tire mount third brake light?

8. Maybe a bright auxiliary back up light?

Thanks in advance đź‘Ť

Less is more. Get high-quality front head lights (KC halogens or Toyota factory Koitos with good H4 bulbs, or LED Holley Retrobrights), a good pair of fogs (VisionX or KC) to fill in and a good pair of tail lights like BMB. If need be, add a couple flat LED lights in the rear valence area below the tailgate and wired appropriately to abide road laws.

Pay attention and you will have good useful light and you will not have butchered the looks of the TJ in the process.

Here's a VERY "custom" rear fog lite:
2b9.jpg

Its a mil surp black-out tail light that I retrofitted with a painfully brite red LED.

Its damn near impossible to photograph, its smaller but considerably brighter than the standard tail lights, this bad picture doesn't do it justice!

I repainted it when I changed out my rear bumper:
