What did you do to your TJ today?

Added some JK fog lights to my front bumper. I already had wiring for fog lights set up, so I figured I would try to get them to work. To install them I removed the adjustable brackets, drilled two 3.5 inch holes, wired everything, and used JB weld to keep them in place. The lights are bright and keep the bumper looking clean.

Very cool, I have the same headlights and would love to add the matching fogs. How was it cutting the holes to mount them? Whats involved?

I was just telling my girlfriend that I wanted to invent something like that. That is probably cheaper than I could do it. Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah, if you knew how to weld this would be really easy to make. But for $120 with free shipping, hardware, and already being powder coated, it would be hard to make one yourself for much cheaper than that if you count your labor!

Bought some New Wipes and cleaned up some faded plastic, wow this stuff works great.

Today I installed one of these Rugged Ridge wall mount door holders:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079NHX5TY/?tag=wranglerorg-20

I have to say, I'm impressed! It's simple, but it holds both doors easily, and it's got striker plates for the doors to latch onto so that they don't accidentally swing out.
I have the same and like them too. Mine was a bugger to install though because I have hollow concrete walls. Apparently I need more education on fasteners...

To cut the holes I found a center point, drilled a pilot hole, and used a 3.5 inch diameter hole saw bit made for cutting metal with an electric drill. A 3.25 inch diameter hole may have worked better but the teeth on the bit I had were too wore down to cut through the bumper. The hard part is securing the lights to the bumper since the plastic adjustment bracket the lights come with are for JK's and won't work. I ended up using JB weld putty and glued the lights in from the back. The only downfall is that they are not easily removable.

I was able to install some custom battery cables to my battery. I purchased the jeep wrangler wiring set and had everything installed in about 90 minutes. It took longer to get the oem cables out of my TJ than it did for the new stuff to install. Have to say, the new 2 gauge cables and connectors they use are pretty stout when compared to the factory stuff. Then for a little additional protection, I had some extra wiring loom laying around so I wrapped the cables in them as well. (I know, a bit of overkill) I also bought the military style post connectors so I could hook up my winch cables to them. Had to drill out the holes a bit but nothing a cordless drill bit couldn't fix. Came out awesome!
Also, got a new starter to go along with the cable set. Now, it starts right up when I turn the key. Much faster than my old unit. the old starter seemed to crank too slowly. My guess is it was the original starter.

Not today, but Monday. I painted my spare cowl using what I plan on painting the Jeep with.

It sprayed great, and the color is really close to the factory paint, so it should make for an easy paint job.

The paint is acrylic lacquer, which I know isn't ideal, but I have 2 gallons of it (reduced equals 4 gallons) and it was free, so I'm not overly concerned.

I did the same exact think when I installed my dual batteries. I changed all of my positives and grounds for my main battery to 2 gauge and all of my powers and grounds to 1 gauge on my aux battery. It is amazing how much room that takes up, but it never sits, and thinks about starting up or charging.

Agreed! I definitely noticed a more robust and faster start up time. With the oem wiring, when I turned the key, it acted and sounded like I was asking it to do me a favor or something by starting up......lol. But now when I turn the key, it fires right up with a "giddy-up, let's go" type of performance.

Bought her a winch! Ended up with a Smittybilt X20 10,000 pounder with synthetic line. 4wd had 10% off memorial day sale, + $50 dollar MIR + free shipping + I had a $40 dollar gift card. All in, the winch will cost about 420 dollars. I know its shittybilt...but they have really good reviews everywhere...Fingers crossed that I don't have to explain to my wife that I need to buy a 1000 dollar winch after the 400 one craps out!

I want to install a 1,000 winch but not sure I will use it enough to justify. So I will likely go the $500 route one of these days. But I like the clean look f an uncluttered front bumper. Decisions decisions!!!

Ordered the Rock Hard 4x4 Jerry Can mounts, (they are on sale with a 15% code for this weekend only, i believe.) Got my trasharoo in the mail as well. Getting the jeep setup for more comfortable camping trips! Pictures soon when it's all installed.

Pulled my 5 1/4's out of the roll bar pods and put them in the dash ( had 4x6's there) and installed 6 1/2's in their place. Stuffed and sealed the pods and put in led's. Made a huge difference. Have a 45w x 4 Sony amp feeding them.
