I was able to install some custom battery cables to my battery. I purchased the jeep wrangler wiring set and had everything installed in about 90 minutes. It took longer to get the oem cables out of my TJ than it did for the new stuff to install. Have to say, the new 2 gauge cables and connectors they use are pretty stout when compared to the factory stuff. Then for a little additional protection, I had some extra wiring loom laying around so I wrapped the cables in them as well. (I know, a bit of overkill) I also bought the military style post connectors so I could hook up my winch cables to them. Had to drill out the holes a bit but nothing a cordless drill bit couldn't fix. Came out awesome!
Also, got a new starter to go along with the cable set. Now, it starts right up when I turn the key. Much faster than my old unit. the old starter seemed to crank too slowly. My guess is it was the original starter.
