Did my final 2025 trip in the Sierras last weeked as the trails close 11/1. Solo, just me.
A lot of people think its scary or weird to head out in to the wilderness alone. I love wheeling and camping with friends, but I have found alone is truly great as well. Just talk to yourself, your god, or whoever.
The last trip of the season I always sort of reflect back on the year. And sometimes how I ended up here, where Im at right now.
I am not a life long Jeep person. I have been the antiJeep... but the epiphany came just walking through the woods by myself.
My uncle bought this new in 98. I only remember being around him maybe 2 times in my life when I was really young.
He passed in 04 and my mom took me through his house in 05. He had a lot of new unused camping stuff.
The epiphany in the woods was that maybe subconsciously this journey isn't about me. Its for the wrecked Vietnam vet that always wanted to do this but just didn't. Or couldn't.
I ran some beyond gnarly trails solo this summer. I truly hope I am doing him proud doing things with his Jeep he would have never imagined.
