By now many of you have heard about the new tire rules created by the Kalifornia CEC. Sacramento reporter KCRA 3's Ashley Zavala was the only reporter in the hearing room when the California Energy Commission voted controversial new state rules. Of course, it’s all smoke and mirrors from this guy – one comment he made noted DISCOUNT TIRE/ AMERICAN TIRE were supporting the rules. That rattled me because I’ve bought a few sets of tires from this company and was always happy with the service. That relationship is now terminated. I’ve written to corporate noting as such noting the reason why.
All car enthusiasts, be it street, track, off road or simply the guy that wants to change the look or feel of the car will be negatively affected by these rules. As it stands today the rules exempt many but not all the tires used by folks here including truck and larger off road tires. The kicker is these are rules not laws. That makes revisions easy. – i.e. what’s ok today may not be tomorrow. These are rules not laws, and they are created by people that are not elected. That said, I suggest if you live in California I ask that you contact your rep. to voice your opinion on the rule. Further, if you, like me belong to other automotive groups outside of the jeep community and feel this issue needs attention please pass this along or write your own. Thanks Russ
