Welp, here we go. Jeeptober has been a great end of season run for a lot of us. I don't want to see this tradition die, so LET'S GET IT ON!

WHEN: Saturday, October 3rd

WHERE: Chinaman Gulch, Buena Vista

Requirements are as follows:
  • 35" tires
  • At least one locker (preferrably two, it makes for a long day for everyone else when they spend time dragging you over obstacles if you don't have them)
  • Skids/armor if you don't like scrapes or dents. Skids/armor even if you do like scrapes and dents
  • Tools
  • Sense of humor
We used to post a second run (mild, but each year it has less interest- usually one, maybe two jeeps) So I'm not going to offer it this year. If others want one, post it up.

Meet at gun smoke at 8:30, air down depart for trail at 9.
12916 US-24 #285, Buena Vista, CO 81211

Please post up if you plan on going and I'll update this first post.

Gee, thanks Ryan. Told my wife that Julie was willing to go Jeeping on her anniversary and now can I still not go, I think I may be sleeping in the shop tonight.

You’re welcome Josh. Anytime. 🤣

We were in Moab for the anniversary and hit Chinaman with the guys on the way back.

Be expensive to run out there this year and we are loaded up on weekends or we’d consider doing it again. Maybe next year.

That sunday is my only day off for two weeks.

I believe my company will be looking for alot of new instructors next spring.

When I get back into work ill see if I can get that switched or take a vacation day.

I'm a solid maybe. October is always tough with anniversary, wife's bday, a week of hunting elk (usually unsuccessfully), fall break, and a fall party we throw every year.

I am tempted but may be a game time decision.

Is there a good place to park a truck and trailer near the trailhead? Better yet, any recommendation on a hotel close by that I can stay at and leave said truck and trailer?

There’s a decent sized lot at the trailhead to park at. We stayed about half hour south if I remember correctly, in Salida.

I’m considering…

Jeff, if you decide to do it, Carnage Canyon is an option. Leave your doors and top off though or they'll get chewed up. I have another friend up here that is friends with Doug, He's in a yota on 43's and rear steer. If he's in town he'd join us for sure. That trail does tend to cause some body damage though. See if you can talk @gasiorv Victor and Scott Puntel to come up for it!

The only real sucky thing is that it can be weather canceled. I'd hate to see people drive that far and have it snow.

I'm in. If it's negotiable 4th works way better for me but I'll make the 3rd work.

I will be wheeling this day, but in Alabama. It will be my return to normal life run at Hawk Pride.

I am up for a carnage canyon and those freedom trails(?) in the future though. And weather just makes it fun, we aren't used to traction anyway.

Do you own doors? Make sure to get video, see you bundled up like the kid in Christmas Story.
