I'm not going to say it was a piece of cake. Having good spotters was key. It was challenging but a blast at the same time. Damage was kept to a minimum thanks to good spotters, patience, and some technique. Under armor was helpful. I did manage to bend my ZJ tie rod. If I had Currie's steering it would have been a non issue.

The nice thing about the 17's is the better back spacing. It will look just fine on 33's, kind of a sporty look. You'll lose a little sidewall, true, but it won't be a deal breaker, and street handling will be good, IMO. Stick with your 4" lift. I'm guessing your lift will come with adjustable control arms? Get a double cardan rear drive shaft and adjust your pinion angles to suit.
Good luck on the cross over steering. I have no personal experience with it, and maybe your setup will be the exception to the rule.
Keep in mind, a tire's lifespan for how we roll is 5 years, so you won't have to wait long if you decide to bump to 35's down the road. I started on 31's, then progressed to 32's, and am now on 33's as I wore each set out, learning along the way.
That's some really good information, so thank you! With the kit I bought it has only adjustable lower control arms, but I do plan on swapping out the uppers too (trying to be budget friendly). The steering is something I'll definitely consider not installing and sticking with a Y link setup. I feel like I'm learning a lot here so thank you and everyone else for the input

Can't leave base so I have to make the most of it! Setup is working great so far, but I'm itching to put the lift and bigger tires on and hitting some trails

Love that you went with the Gobi rack! Top of the line. Hope you guys are able to make it to Oregon and wheel with us up here on the coast.

Welcome to the forum by the way!

Just catching up on this. I'm multiplying times "whatever number inserted here" on:

sticking with 33's while you build over it time for the eventual 35's, Stay as clear away from the crossover steering as you can and buy the Currie CorrectLync and last, selling me your half doors when you're ready since they already match my Jeep and I only live 20 minutes away from you.....hahahahaha!

Yes I've decided on 33's for now and I'll be taking a close look at the Currie setup as well. And unless you have a pair of full metal doors in flame red you want to workout a deal on, I'll be keeping the half doors LOL!

X 100 on 33s and build for 35s over time. I’m doing the same thing and the 33s are definitely not my limiting factor. It’s that damn shovel of a tcase skid that I keep having to run over with my dads dually to straighten it back out. Since nature is trying to give me one anyways a proper tummy tuck and SYE are in the works for me 😁

I'll definitely check it out, I've been eyeing some of their bumpers as well! Looks like some quality stuff
Ya the fit and finish is amazing. The skid isn't made for my year anymore but I helped install one on a LJR and the quality is top notch. Buy once cry once right?

Check out @Midnight LJR build.

Wven more reason for the 2.5 inch suspension lift combined with a 1.25 inch body lift. Tucking the skid is prob one of the best mods you can make and it will pay you back in dividends out on the trail.

I just wanted to post some pics of 33’s, good luck with the build. I am sort of building up in a similar manner
