1999 TJ 2.5 cranks but no start

Good point! I will check the notches and count them. But from what I found flywheel for 2.5 is the same over the years

how about the crankshaft sensor it’s just a Hall effect responding to the notches ? The connector is the difference between the years right?

I think any changes would be at the connector as well. You said it did run once? Bench testing a Hall effect sensor you can’t duplicate the speed it switches at when running or cranking. It’s hard to say for sure.

Will remove lower plate at bellhousing and see if I will find this flywheel of an yj.
Still doesn’t explain the time I got it running but have seen stranger things in life

I dont think you will find a 6cyl flywheel. Who knows.

Are you sure he used the correct flywheel? Just a random thought.
I looked, they seem to be the same from 95-02’ for a wrangler 2.5.

You where right, pulled the engine this doesn’t look like the right flywheel to me. Will install the right one and let you guys know. But I think I found the problem.

found one and cleaned it up.
More cleaning tomorrow and installation.

From what I find on the internet the flywheel that was on the engine is from a YJ.

Flywheel fixed it, engine had a yj 2.5 flywheel. A lot more notches then the tj 2.5 flywheel.

New problem when engine reaches 75 degrees Celsius. It stalls.
I think it’s the o2 sensor.

That’s another odd symptom. I have not ever heard of an O2 stalling an engine. More backprobing and testing for you I guess. Good luck.
