2.5 piston slap vs rockers

This was my first time rebuilding an engine so anyone can do it. Just takes time and patience and lots of research and a few specialized tools

Gotcha well you did awesome if you succeeded. This is my daily driver though which is scary. I’m going to head to a shop tomorrow for a listen and I guess I should drop the Pan.

Yea I understand as this is my daily driver too. I found a used engine for $300 to swap in while I rebuilt my original engine. The used one started knocking after a couple thousand miles but it bought me enough time to get mine finished up and replaced. Took me about 5 months and several hundred dollars but the experience was priceless in my opinion. So far it’s running well with about 400 miles on it. Have a 10 hour trip planned in three weeks so I guess I’ll find out how well it is built then lol

Can anyone provide guidance on checking the flex plate and torque converter bolts? The steps needed to check these? Thanks

You’ll have to pull either the engine or transmission to get access to that. In the resource section of the forum you can find the factory service manual for your year and it will tell you how to do just about anything you need to know. I used it a good bit when rebuilding my engine. You can download the PDF and keep it on your phone for everything you want to learn about. You may be able to take the back two bolts out of the oil pan , the ones that hold the metal strap on, and then the four bolts that hold the inspection cover on to at least get a peek in to see if any bolts are loose.
