The Mitsubishi motor was great, it made over 200hp with a turbo back in the 90s hung around until 2006 made 300hp in the SRT neon. It's a solid little motor that will live a long time in the 200-250hp range. Non interference belt driven cams, doesn't leak, overheat or pop head gaskets in the TJ. It's almost weird not having to watch the temperature wheeling, the oil stains in my driveway are actially drying up. I've owned Jeeps since the 80s so the stains are big. I'd love to slap a turbo on it and have a 6 speed mid engine Jeep, it would probably do wheelies. Plenty of room for activities under the hood. Look how small it is, you can see how far back behind the front axle it is. It does have a weird cam sensor that needs to gapped or it runs like dog crap. (No air filter comments I run a 4.0 box that's just on to give me room to do tune ups and motor work .)
