Hey guys, sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn’t. Always starts first thing in the am, After driving somewhere the jeep will crank over but not start, I wait a minute or 2 and it starts. 6 speed manual transmission. Local shop won’t take it saying they have too many problems and expenses dealing with this issue on other jeeps that they have looked at.

Does it still have the original PCM? 05, 06 PCMs are know problems.

Is it heat soaked when this happens? Are the heat shields till in place on the intake?

Any codes….before and/or now?

Sounds a lot like heat soak issues. If it is, I installed an aftermarket heat shield and fuel rail wrap and also did the injector 3 wrap as specified by the TSB. Zero issues since.

I'd be monitoring fuel pressure and live ODB data like fuel trims.

A basic Bluetooth ODB dongle and the free Torque Lite app will work for monitoring live data.

You'll need a 5/16" QD adapter to check fuel pressure. Racetronix makes an excellent one.
