Since you've cleaned the throttle body and the idle is better without the air intake tube, I would suggest checking for any vacuum leaks around the intake system. Even small leaks can cause irregular idle because they introduce extra air that the engine can’t compensate for. Also, if you haven't already, I would consider cleaning or replacing your IAC (Idle Air Control) valve. A faulty IAC can cause erratic idle issues as well. Make sure the electrical connections are solid and see if there are any error codes if you have a code reader.
It's also worth inspecting the condition of the MAP sensor; a dirty or failing MAP sensor can cause similar problems as well.

Thanks for the help! I went ahead and ordered the smoke test machine in the link. I guess we’re going to go take it for a cruise anyway and hope for the best, just hoping it doesn’t leave us stranded lol.
