7-coil vs 8-coil spring configuration.

Hey guys,

I have a stock 2004 Sport with the 4.0L and manual transmission. I've noticed a number of stock TJs running around have an 8-coil front spring configuration while mine has only 7 coils (plus the small alignment coil at the top). What would account for this difference? Ride height and handling are fine, I just find this puzzling.

Coil count is mostly irrelevant. Different manufacturers makes springs with different spring rates... different uncompressed lengths.

Really just comes down to engineering and design decisions.

I picked Currie 4" lift springs because they have longer uncompressed lengths to help prevent springs from popping out.

They ride exactly as well as the shocks do.

I'm very happy with my Black Max front shocks and Fox 2.0 outboard setup combined with an Oro SwayLoc. I've largely followed the recipe for running 35" tires.
