I have spent so much time trying to ID this connector. And keep coming back you this forum as it has so much info for all things TJ. So, I'm swapping out a new wire harness for my '98 TJ 4.0. and removing some items like ABS, etc. And I have a few connectors I just can't ID from the service manual even though shows on the schematics as c101 but no diagram. I can see photos on the net but no ID just mentions. Anyway, if anyone can tell me if it is or is not c101 it would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone know what it connects to?

None of the FSMs that I have 1998,1999,2000,2002,2003, or 2004 list a C101 in the connector pinouts. They start at C103 and nothing looks like your connector out of all the connector pictures in the list in the FSM. However, I did read this from each year manual:

In-line connectors are identified by a number, as follows:
• In-line connectors located on the engine compartment harness are C100 series numbers.
• Connectors located on the instrument panel harness are C200 series numbers.
• Connectors located on the body harness areC300 series numbers.
• Jumper harness connectors are C400 series numbers.
• Grounds and ground connectors are identified with a “G” and follow the same series number-ing as the in-line connector.
Component connectors are identified by the component name instead of a number (Fig. 2). Multipleconnectors on a component use a C1, C2, etc. identi-fier (Fig. 3).
When I do search for the C101 in the wiring diagrams, I do get some wiring and where its located but no actual pinout of the connector itself.

Thanks Andy - I’m pretty good at sloothing down the rabbit hole but his one became a cause for me. I see it on the schematics also. and on a few eBay shots of harnesses But no call out of a part number etc.
I haven't checked the 1997 manuals. There is some roll over from 1997 to 1998. Let me look into that.

Looking at the C103 connector pinout on the FSM for the 1997 matches your connector. Pin 1 DG/BK, Pin 2 DG/OR, Pin 3 RD/WT, etc.
