I just recently had my jeep in the shop because I didn’t have time to figure out where my ac system leak was coming from. I had put some dye in the system and couldn’t find it leaking out of anywhere. The guys at the shop found small trace amounts of dye at the bottom of the condenser so we decided to replace it just in case. The Schrader valves at both the high and low ports were also replaced. Got it back up and running and it held charge for about 4 weeks before it lost it again. After that it would only hold charge for about 2 weeks with normal driving. Told the shop it still had a problem and so they replaced the valves again just to be sure and held on to it for a few days to find wherever else it could be leaking. The only thing they could find was a faint glow under uv at the drain port coming from the evaporator. I know I have a heater core leak so I don’t know if it’s actually the dye or just the glow from excess coolant.
Now I’m trying to figure out next steps. I don’t really want to go ahead with all the work of replacing the evaporator if that’s not the problem. The jeep also will hold charge for about 2 weeks if I drive daily but if I let it sit for 3-4 days without turning it on it will leak it all out. Let me know if anyone else has had a similar situation and what I should do to better source or confirm leak locations.
