Advice / opinion on current build

Hey guys! I am new to the forum. I wanted to get your advice on my current build scheme!

I currently have a 2001 Jeep TJ with a 4.0. It is a automatic with a 32RH transmission (3 speed). it currently has stock 3.07 gears. It has a dana 30 front and 35 rear.

I just purchased the 3.5" metalcloak long travel short arm kit. I went with the metalcloak rockport shocks and steering stabilizer.

I purchased the adams driveshaft with SYE kit and G2 Ring & Pinion 4.56 gears. I have the Dick Cepek Trail Country EXP all terrain 35x12.5x15 tires.

This is not my daily driver. It will be my weekend driver. The offroading it will see are fire roads and basic trails. Not taking this rock crawling anytime soon.

I will eventually upgrade to chromoly axle shafts and upgrade the brake system.

Thoughts or concerns I should have?

Your main concern should be 35s on a Dana 35. You didn't state whether you'll be locking the diffs when you swap the gears, which you should be since you're in there anyway. Either way, the Dana 35 needs a Super 35 kit to support the 35s and as long as you're doing the gears add the S35 kit.

I am not putting on lockers. I've read a lot of different forums on if the Dana 35 would support the 35s...I've read horrible to great lol.I will not be wheeling this crazy. It will be offroading on fire roads and basic trails 2-3 times a year.

If i put on the 35's, will it just snap driving down the road? That's my main concern.

No, you’ll be fine.

It could snap while on the road if you're doing stuff like traffic light drag racing. It could also snap anywhere else the gas pedal is used like that.

Just keep that in mind and the fire road-ish off-roading shouldn't be a problem. Also keep in mind that the fire road-ish off-roading could be just the begining.

The 35" tires are why I added that last statement and they aren't really needed on a fire road.

Thanks! Basically just don't drive reckless and try gunning it. i will eventually upgrade to chromoly shafts. Just didn't have the extra money to dish out right away.

When the funds permit, the Super 35 kit will be a nice piece of mind. Post up some before and after pictures if you remember!

Your machine will be an absolute slug with those 35's and 3.07 r&p and an automatic.

You might be thinking cliff driving by the first convenience store.

I'd consider 4.88 tbh but 4.56 is better than your 3.07

Lol. Ive read all over this forum about gears and how it would be a slug with 3.07. I have 4.56

Did you mean a 4.5" lift? 35's wont fit a 3.5" lift without a body lift

I notated that you got 4.56...but not installed yet.?.?

I was suggesting a 4.88 gear and might even entertain 5.13

Not only are you increasing height...but adding weight and rolling resistance.

You never wabt to go through a gear install only to find out you didn't go low enough.
I'm a gear fan. The lower the gear the more driver control you have.

It’s a 3.5”. According to metalcloak and the shop I’m getting it installed from said I do not need a body lift. I’m also going to change out the fenders soon.

Sorry I misread your original message. I currently don’t have anything installed. I have everything purchased and ready to be installed. With my research with the 32RH, everything I was reading suggested 4.56..unless I’m wrong

Hey guys. I wanted to say thanks for the advice and concerns with my project. I called the shop where I’m getting everything installed. They said it would cost me $0 additional for labor to get chromoly shafts front and rear installed. So I went ahead and ordered them through the shop. Plan is to get everything installed on Jan 19-20.
