So I want to rebuild the sound system in my 05 Tj. My dilemma is I cant commit to a location for the amp. My rig spends a lot of time with the top off in the desert or at the lake. I take the back seat out often and have my 2 large dogs in the back - so under the seat or in the tub isn't the most ideal. I'm thinking the sides of the front passenger area but not sure. I'm going to need 5+ channels but I'm ok with 2 smaller amps being used. Still a rookie with this stuff so looking for some expert thoughts

I mounted this little guy just in front of my console on the driver side with one self tapping screw

Another vote for the steering column. Though, mine is ziptied into place. I need to redo it. The bigger issue is trying to find a place for a sub (if you dont have a center console one to reuse).

This is my issue at the moment. I had a great box (tuning wise) that didn't fit behind the rear seat when I was forced to put my rear seat back in. I never had a center sub in my Jeep and my sub is an Alpine 10" S series (too deep anyhow). I got a double 10" box off ebay that I quite dislike as well for a number of reasons. First is it takes up all of the room behind the seat. I am thinking of cutting it in half to make it a single 10" box, but that wasn't an option at the time. Second is the truck bed liner squeaks like mad against the rear window and door.

I have that little Kicker 200.1 amp on the passenger side firewall below the glovebox. Then ran the speakers off the deck. Not much room for another amp or a bigger one under there.
