Nice! Way to go @TJ4Jim . It is one hell of a gift and very unexpected. It's only the third brand new firearm I've ever owned.

Sweet choice of pistol, I like it. It may seem kinda weird to buy a husband or wife a gun for an anniversary but I bought my wife a Ruger SS .357 right after we got married 28 years ago... she called it a great late wedding gift so I quickly agreed and said absolutely that's what I was thinking of lol.
Thanks Jerry, it's supposed to be the "perfect packin' pistol" and it has been so far. It seems to be a family tradition to get your spouse a firearm for a special gift on occasion. Wife got her Blackhawk convertible last year, and oldest daughter got an old S&W Combat Masterpiece in 38 Special. Youngest Daughter is getting a Colt Combat Commander for making Captain in the USA next month engraved with name, rank and promotion date. (That's a family tradition ) Her husband got a Walther PPK on their wedding day, he had to dive under the wedding dress to fetch it in front of everybody.
We're a family that the more liberal members of society loose sleep over.

Got the Redhawk out over the weekend and shot it some. Factory loads, medium cast loads and some bear loads. The factory loads are really weak sauce in this thing. The medium loads (270 grain @ 1,000 fps) were nice to shoot. Accurate as well. The bear loads were a hoot to shoot! (270 grain @ 1,300 - 1,400 fps) That big ol' massive chunk of stainless steel just sucks up the recoil. You know you're shooting something, but it doesn't bite like the Super Blackhawk does with heavy loads. Carrying this revolver in a cross draw holster is easy. It doesn't get hung up on anything in the Jeep or in the Suburban, and doesn't interfere with moving around or doing stuff. Wife did a really good thing here.
The only issue is the throats are a little tight in the cylinder as is typical for Ruger revolvers. You have to be particularly careful of bullet diameter and keep them as close to 0.452" as you can manage so that a loaded cartridge doesn't stick in the chamber(s) and become difficult to remove if you want to unload live rounds.
