You certainly have a point there - but there's ALWAYS something broken on a boat, and its ALWAYS expensive. I've been around enough of them to know.

The only time I had ANY trouble out of mine was when I let it sit for 10 years . Ethanol will totally destroy any fuel system that sits. A boat is no more expensive than a car if treated the same. Take your car and let it sit from say August until maybe June, don't put a battery maintainer on it, don't go start it and let it run just leave it sit there, treat it like your boat, if your boat sits out in the yard leave your car sit in the yard. It will be just as expensive to fix as your boat.

This reminds me of a long time ago when I had a CJ7 with a Chevy 350 in it.

I was dating this girl and we were riding on a nice fall day with the top and doors off. She was wearing a nice pink sweater. Very fetching.

I went down a trail and there was a decent sized mud hole that I of course headed straight into.

Just got the front tires in it when she says "No wait! Stop! We're by ourselves and I don't want to be stuck out here!"

So being the good boyfriend, I stopped and put the Jeep in reverse.

Gunned the 350 and the 33" mud tires did their thing, right as she decided to look out the side of the Jeep at the front tires sitting in the mud hole.

It covered her up, like COVERED her up.

I looked at her and thought: Oh crap! This relationship is over and I really liked this girl!

She paused for a moment, apparently in shock at what had just happened, then just started laughing her butt off.

She has been my wife for the last 35 years

An aluminum boat is like a Mackerel in the moonlight. Its shiny, and it stinks. Had dealings with an aluminum boat - a ship actually - and it was an unmitigated disaster - a class A-1+ Charlie Foxtrot of epic proportions. Granted, a 10 footer probably isn't too bad - the smaller the boat the smaller the problems.
