Yep, saw that one. Great thread. But, it requires the most recent versions of the TJ stereos, which have the 'data-stream' plugs, right? Older TJ stereos have the 'twin-seven' plugs/harness. Plus, if using one of these older stock stereos, an amp would bring the full life out of any speakers.

I lifted the following straight off the webpage where I bought my module:
1. Compatible with select 2002-08 Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge & Plymouth models listed in drop-down.
2. Compatible radio must have a "Rounded face". "Disk ^" on preset # 1, and preset #5 and "MODE" or "CD/AUX" button (RB1 radio) (see detailed images)
3. Also compatible with Chrysler RAD radio code with "CD-C" button and 10-pin port
4. Radios CD/Sirius port. (8-pin CD port radios requires our BLU-CHRY98)
5. Factory CD changer or Satellite radio (if present), must be disconnected.
6. NOT compatible with: “RAH”, "REK", “REV”, "RBQ" radio codes.
7. 2004-Up REF, REC, RAQ, RAR, RAK, REG radio codes are NOT compatible. See our AAi-CHY or similar.
My radio fit requirements #1 and #2.
As for the harness I had a square, gray, 10-pin plug that plugged into my head unit, next to the main vehicle/radio harness; and a black, round plug that went into the Bluetooth module. No other items were plugged into, or left unplugged, on the back of the radio. I can't speak to "data-stream" vs. "twin-seven" plugs, sorry.
There is another module for 1995-02 vehicles (https://www.discountcarstereo.com/blu-chry.html?category_id=445) that have the square-faced radio. That module seemingly only has round, 8-pin connectors. I don't know if any of that information helps.
I don't know how this particular module would work with an amp, just offered it up as an option.
I know an amp would improve sound quality, but I wasn't going that route. I got what I got, which was more than I had, and I'm ok with that.

Yes that's very helpful. Will see if my head unit meets those criteria for the second option you shared. I don't think it does, but it's worth checking. But yes, what I like about this approach is that it gives you an amp and direct Bluetooth in one.

Stay away from Boss audio anything lol, it's garbage. Kenwood is owned by JVC so they are similar quality. I would pony up for the Exelon products they offer if you want something serious. Sony makes good stuff too from what I've heard but I've never gone too deep with my research into Sony.
