AT tires are great until you face some mud. Not all muds are crazy noisy like super swampers.

I like the ride of my Goodyear Wrangler M/T's. The slight rumble doesn't bother me. The slight slip when I turn a tight radius doesn't bother me. The look is awesome. Another thing I like about them over my previous BFG All-Terrain's is the tread is wider so it doesn't pick up so many small pieces of gravel that are on my 400 yard driveway and throw them all over the place. That alone is worth it to me and trumps tire wear and any other issues. I get off road daily, just to blow some steam off, but I'm a 90% street driver. To each his own.

Mud tires work for about 7% of the time you actually offroad, unless you wheel back east in that clay mud sloppy stuff 24/7. I just love the look of mud terrains on a jeep, so I have fell victim to the sickness. They are loud, noisy, obnoxious, loud, noisy, wear like shit if you DD your rig, are loud, cup if you don't rotate them like every 500 miles, loud, obnoxious, noisy, did I mention they look cool? I've been thru 3 sets of muds so far, and I need an intervention!

Almost everyone I've met likes the look of mud tires on a jeep, myself included. So you are not Alone. That's one of the reasons I went with duratracs. An AT tire that has an aggressive look. And regardless of how impractical a mud tire is (especially for California), I still find myself checking out mud tire websites on the internet. You're right, it is a disease. Cause I don't even need tires right now.

I agree. One reason I like the Duratracs so much is that they look exactly like a M/T tire, but they are an A/T.

So in my mind, I get the best of both worlds.

Sounds like a "Hybrid" tire would suit your needs. There are a few such as the Duratracs, Authorities, etc.

I used to run mud and swamper tires on every vehicle I drove. I now run Goodyear Authorities since I don't wheel as much but still demand an aggressive tire. Every vehicle I have and had lately has these tires on em. Smooth riding and great in every condition plus they don't hurt your wallet.
