When did they change from a good bunch of folks to do business with to the buttheads they are now? I have made many purchases from them over the years, always good parts, tolerable prices.
I'm working around a logistical issue trying to do a motor swap and need to have this motor well buttoned up and appointed before I pull the existing motor. As such, I'm hunting down, acquiring odds and ends so I can get them cleaned up and installed on the engine. I needed a timing chain cover with all the bolts.
I find one with bolts from Baseline on eBay. Buy it now and wait for it to arrive which it does in a reasonable amount of time. The problem is the interchange book they (recyclers) use (which Dorman also uses) is wrong. 99 and down use part number 53020221. 00-06 use part number 53010420. I bought a Dorman, it showed good for 97-06. Tony at AAA Broadway showed the same application in his interchange guide.
Fortunately, I have both here installed on vehicle so I was able to get and send over pictures of the correct part number.
I know how eBay works so rather than cause problems, I've found it generally works much better to just contact using the message function to ask a question. So I did, I was polite and willing to keep a product I don't really need but may use at some point.
In the meantime, I clean up the part along with the bolts so I don't bag and tag it dirty. A few days go by and still nothing from them. I look them up on the 'net, find a number, call them, twice one day, then twice the next. Nobody answers the phone. Check eBay again, still nothing. Fine, fuck it, if you aren't going to try and help, then take this back. I go to the purchases and initiate a return. They got back a very nice looking item that is all clean and shiny ready to install.
Tonight, I need another part, they have it, go to buy it and get this-
