Battery drain

Hello all!

I am a new owner of a 99 TJ sport 4.0. I am from Barcelona, Cat, Spain, so here we are not so lucky to have as many Jeeps as in the States and also is sometimes hard to find some replacement parts.

I have an issue with the dark current of my TJ. After a week without using it, I found my TJ without battery and I needed to replace for a new one. I checked the consumption in Off and i have around 160mA of consumption. After checking all the fuses I realize that the drain is comming from circuit of fuse 3 (ignition system).
I have cheched almost everything but I am not getting what is causing that consumption. I have read that the issue could be the Ignition Switch, but I am not sure how to check without replacing it and if could be another thing....

So I am a bit lost...any thoughs? I’ll apreciate some help

160ma is not a big draw. You are always going to have some kind of draw. For instance your radio keeps a clock and I believe you ECU does too. Your battery should be able to handle a 160MA draw for a long time. If it can't, I would do a 24hr trickle charge on the battery, and get it load tested. My guess without having any of my tools nor being in Spain (maybe I can talk my wifee in to coming over for a visit) is your battery is probably not up to the task anymore.

Welcome to the forum. I am relatively new to the forum since I bought my 97 TJ 4.0 in October of last year.
I live in Sant Cugat and indeed, we are few here.
Regarding your electric problem, indicate that it is not easy to find the origin. If you have already discarded consumptions in the rest of the circuits and it is that 3 fuse, I would investigate a little more. In the Manual, there are information of all systems and electric circuits. I would try to disconnect the final element, lest the leak be due to a failure in the insulation of any cable.
In subject spare parts I buy everything in the USA, it is cheaper even counting ports and customs. And there is everything.
I am trying to find people to go out and make 4x4 routes here, since until now, I am going alone, and for the moment I have been lucky since going alone, in case of some mishap or breakdown, it is more complicated to solve.
