Beach Jeep Mods

There's a complete set of 2006 Rubicon axles here on CL for $4250, it includes everything needed for a swap. The NV241 is an additional $1500. Glad mine already has them.
At $4250..... I'd be considering other options. Pretty sure you can rebuild axles with lockers for that.

Kevin, was it a pretty straight forward, bolt in swap ?

Lockers $1800
Alloy Axle Shafts $1300
Ring and Pinons $600
Dana 44 Axle Housings $4000 (for Curries or Dynatrac)

Building axles with new parts costs a small fortune.

So $4250 for used TJR axles is a great deal?
If I read this correctly it isn't really a use axle anymore because everything is new. And yes that is pretty fair market value for the product, if not a good deal.

I'm not sure what the going price is for a set of clean, non-abused Rubicon axles (complete ones) with lower miles.

I know that they've got to be worth a bit though because there's XJ guys (and base model TJ guys) who would love to have them.

I know the front Dana 44 gets a bad rap since it uses the same parts as the Dana 30... However, what most of those idiots (the ones who do all the trash talking) forget is that the pumpkin on the Dana 44 is in no way, shape or form the same as the Dana 30 pumpkin, and if you're planning on building your axle, you definitely want that bigger Dana 44 pumpkin.

Rich. Hell I am retired living on a fixed income. I would rather build my jeep than eat:)

Haha, I'm the same way. I'm going to get the Currie HP44 though. I thought about a Dana 60 but I just don't think I need that sort of beef. Who knows though...

Wait until the LS swap!

I haven't swapped them yet. Hopefully by March I'll have them in.

So now my question is this. Since doing my SYE/Driveshaft for a Dana 35 can I use the same driveshaft for the Dana 44? I have read two different answers on the subject and would like other opinions. Also, this is my DD so I am probably going to have to do my axle swap in two different weekends. If 4.10's are in the rear can I drive it with the front 3.07's as long as I don't engage the transfer case?

Yep, just don't put it in 4WD and you'll be fine.

The Dana 44 brings the pinion a bit closer to the transfer case since it's a bit bigger / longer than the Dana 35 pinion. That being said, with a stock driveshaft sometimes I hear people have to shorten it just a bit, but I think you'll be find with your custom driveshaft. It may move the slip joint a bit further up, but it should work. Take pictures of where the slip joint sits (it should sit in the middle) after the install so we can see what it looks like.

It would be good to be able to use the new one. If I have to I'll order a shorter one for the Dana 44. I need one on hand either way. I sent Adams an email on it but no reply yet.

The optimal thing to do is get the axle on, measure from yoke to yoke and then tell them what size driveshaft you need. However, I can understand if this is your only vehicle that might be impossible.

Thanks and yes that would be optimal. Only if my Cherokee would friggin run I wouldn't have an issue!
Jerry B. mentioned on a post that you don't need to shorten it if you have a suspension lift. Must be a length of travel thing.
