Bent steering stabilizer bracket?

I have trouble disconnecting my passenger side away bar links, the link makes contact with the steering stabilizer bracket and I have to tap it out. Does it look bent? If so, is heating it with mapp gas and hitting it with a bfh a few times a good way to fix it?

I noticed it when I was installing my disconnects so the pin itself can’t be what’s bent

For the sway bar link pin? I followed exactly how the instructions from jks said to install it

If you want to bend it I'd use a crescent wrench and just bend it. You'll have much better control than with a hammer. The steel is pretty weak. No clue if it needs it but they aren't high precision, I wouldn't worry too much.

I had a similar design years ago and directions said to place the stud outboard of the brackets. It worked perfectly. You're having a problem their way.

Interesting, I could try that. It wouldn’t be at too much of an outward angle that way?

Those pins would interfere with stock wheels if they faced outward. Anybody can easily see by looking at the swaybar that they are supposed to go inward, just take two seconds and check yourself. The link would have to have a ridiculous bend to be even close to fitting. Just bend the bracket a bit if you need space.

Your photos didn't show enough of the antiswaybar's position relative to the link to know that but it certainly wouldn't hurt to try it... reversing it would take all of a minute. It worked ok on my previous TJ.

Take the pin out and bend the bracket a little. Had to do the same thing on my TJ.

Since all the instructions show them inboard and those that have commented to bend the brackets have them inboard from what I've read perhaps a photo of your links would help?

Based on those photos I wouldn't reverse the stud either. I probably didn't remember mine correctly, it has after all been over 20 years since I last had discos that used a stud like that.

Considering how much well earned respect everybody has for @Jerry Bransford I knew if I didn't keep at it I'd start seeing them on the trail reversed in a few months.
