The top of radiator blew off my 2001 going to the beach Sunday. Was towing small trailer with golf cart. Of the part numbers mentioned above are there any options that are better for towing?

Realize this is a old thread bur wondering how long it took to get the dash out , Need to do the core in wife's jeep & don't really want to be cutting any braces like I see in a bunch of post from other DIY'er's . Any thing in particular ya may remember about pullin the dash .

I searched YouTube for ‘ removing Jeep TJ dash for heater core” and found several. I would watch 4 or 5 and pick one that seems the most informative. Someone on here may have a specific one they like.
I have a well equipped shop for working in comfort. I think it took me maybe 1 hr to get the dash out....maybe less. I didn't cut anything. I then had to remove the HVAC box which is easy but takes a bit of time too. Once it was out, I took my time disassembling it, cleaning everything, inspecting everything, replacing the evaporator and the heater core, and then put it all back together. Once reassembled, then it took me a few more hours to get everything buttoned up. I'd say at least 6 hrs for the job but probably closer to 8.
I did not remove the steering column. No need to. I used ratchet straps to hold the dash up, back, and out of the way. Room was a little tight but nothing I couldn't work with. Maybe if I was really fat I might not have had enough room but I'm not so I had plenty of room to easily remove the HVAC box. So, you can remove the steering column if you really insist but don't listen to anyone who tells you that you HAVE to. 2 ratchet straps is all you need.
Good idea to watch a few youtube videos on dash removal to give you an idea what bolts and nuts have to be removed....and which ones do not.

If you have a decent amount of mechanical experience already you’ll have no problem doing the job. It’s not hard, just time consuming.
If you have no/very little experience pulling wrenches this is probably not the job to start with.
I didn’t remove my steering column or pull the dash all the way off.
Is it a pain in the butt job? Yes, yes it is.
Also, no cutting involved.
Remove the passenger seat. It's only 4 more bolts.

It's not hard to remove the seat but I wouldn't bother. With the dash ratcheted out of the way it's not hard to get the HVAC box out. Probably a good call to protect the steering column. I didn't have any issues with it but I could see it slipping and causing some scratches potentially.
