Buchanan seat risers (wow!)

Anyone with a bandsaw and a drill press and 18 inches of square 6061 bar stock can make these. There are quite a few members here on the forum that have made theirs with one member even using steel. I've got all the machinery to do it, but at $50 for a kit it's not worth my time to make. If you decide to DIY, don't sell them or you might violate the patent Buchanan may have secured on a block of aluminum with a hole in it.

They reduced the height of the seats in the later year jeeps (to put driver closer to airbag). Go sit in one and see for yourself.

That and people are built different. Same total height and folks can have different torso to leg proportions.

Lower the seat in your 98 and see if it improves your vision.

97-02 had the same height seats as the years before them. They lowered the seats by 1.5” in 2003 supposedly for airbag alignment. Pretty sure they gave them the ability to slide further back instead. It is a drastic difference in visibility.

For off-road, I could see the purpose for the risers, however, I actually prefer the lower seating position on the road. Too tall makes me bend my knees too much for my comfort (bad knees).

I think my problem is that I have wheeled a lot of different stuff. So I maybe appreciate the good TJ visibility more than most.

Either way it’s not as bad as a Countach but the higher position of the older TJ’s is better for me than the lower position of my 06’s.

I get that.

My TJ is very much like driving our RZR pre runner on 32s in the rocks. Very similar driving style.

I have wheeled things with 69.5" wide hoods most my life, so I think that's why I appreciate the small stuff I have now.

2" risers make a lot better visibility in my 03.

Why compre to the "worst " you've had? Why not compre to the best?

I truly appreciate the TJ visibility, because I have driven a lot of things other than TJ. Thats the drift I get.
