Bump stops suggestions

def will try to save money on this, especially when people have proved it to be simple to diy a bump stop and have the same function as a fancy one. I think I will follow the metalcloak design just like kmas0n did

The Currie bumps are more clever than many realize.

First, they split the extension between the top and bottom which helps reduce the leverage from the extension only coming from one side.

Second, the Currie bumps are rounded which allow for the flex to occur higher up in the overall travel. Extended stock bumps with the wide steel cup and flat spacers or hockey pucks push the articulation down, effectively reducing up travel during articulation.

These are little things, but the second reason is enough to really make me want to switch from my body lift pucks.

Since polyurethane is a rather hard material, won't that cause a harsh bottom out?
 
I'm pretty sure all bumpstops, regardless of manufacturer or shape reduce uptravel during articulation. That is the whole point of an extended bumpstop.

Possibly. There is a lot to that question. The factory yellow jounces are there to slow the upward travel before the hard stop. Currie bumps assume additional up travel over stock and likely also assume decent shocks. Meaning the speed of hard impact ought to be slower than other configurations with less upward travel. When you get into the fancier setups, air bumps can be an option to slow the last bit of travel rather than rely entirely on the shock valving at the end. Some of the concerns and priorities shift a bit depending on the overall build and usage.

It is the purpose, though limiting the high speed upward travel can be more critical than the slow speed, high angle articulation. Some designs are just better than others at incorporating little nuances. And these little nuances don't always matter. I personally don't care for hockey pucks, though the big washer helps. Plastic body lift pucks are a great inexpensive and precise solution that should do well for most.

That makes sense, I've set my bump stops up that when the yellow jounce bumper is completely smashed into the cup everything is at max up travel. For example, when completely compressed there is only about 1/4" of shock shaft showing. I can feel when the axle hits the jounce, it does have a nice progressive feel. I kept this setup on the advice of Blaine (he even mailed me a set because mine had disintegrated)
I've often considered air bumps, but there is no easy bolt or weld on solution I can figure for the rear, and I've read they can be obnoxious (noisy as the pad contacts the axle)
