Yesterday while driving home from work it got really hard to shift into gear. By the time I got home 15 minutes later it was near impossible as I had to slam it into gear even with the clutch down. Also did see something leaking on the back right tire after trying to put it in first and reverse a few times. If I dont have the clutch pressed in and push into first (even though it doesn't actually go into gear) it does roll forward slowly and same for reverse.
If engine is off I'm able to easy put it in any gear.
If I start in first, with clutch pressed, I'm able to disengage clutch and go in first just fine but I can't shift to second.
If I look under my jeep I see some wetness under the transmission that is light brown.
When under jeep and I have someone press the clutch in while running i see forward movement (about half inch) between
Things I have checked:
1) clutch fluid is filled
2) I opened fill cap on transmission and put finger in and had wetness on finger so seems like transmission isn't leaking
3) Felt around clutch peddle where it meets master cylinder on driver side floor and no wetness. (Clutch fluid is full)
4) Felt around the slave on driver side and didn't feel or see wetness.
I read through so many articles and only thing left that I'm not really sure how to check is the pressure plate or clutch disk.
Please let me know if you have any ideas. This is my only vehicle so I need it for work as I'm already looking into long term rentals for this coming Monday.
Thanks in advance and I promise to post the resolution once actually completed.
