I would like to restore a Victorian, love old home ours are mostly California bungalow or craftsman in our area.

Love the Craftsman style too. We were very seriously considering scratch building a Victorian at one time, another time we were fairly serious about a "Gold Rush Victorian" up in Sutter Creek. The older styles have much nicer floorplans - but very often the rooms themselves are too small. We're not fans of the HGTV pushed "Open Concept" idea AT ALL.

Our home here in Florida is what I call the "Post war standard floorplan" that almost all houses were built to from the late 40s to the mid-70s. Its not a bad floorplan, although we had to have the MBR expanded in this particular home as our bedroom furniture barely fit and didn't fit well. This is actually the 2nd house we've owned with this style floorplan - the first one actually had a bigger MBR, although it was smaller overall.

I once replaced 60' of cast iron sewer-pipe in the back yard of a duplex that my friend was renting. She rented the lower floor, and a young couple rented the upper. Anyway, it took me an entire Saturday, with me finishing up close to 10:00pm. The next day, the owner showed up to pay me for my troubles. I told the landlord that I could tell her two things about her tenants: What brand of cigarettes they smoked, and that they all need to chew their food better!

*I also ended up with a double eye infection for my efforts. The doc walked into his office, took one look at me, and said "Oh, shit!!!"
