They share a bit in common, but the overall build and UI is nicer IMO. I worked Fire/EMS in the frack fields several years ago, and they decided to switch to Baofeng radios (because the company was cheap). While they impressed me in some ways, they left a lot to be desired. I've used them since, and they're great for what they are. But there's better options available these days for not a lot of difference in cost.
