Made it out to Browns Camp yesterday with a coworker. Was finally able to test out the UCF tummy tuck skid and savvy GTS. Both took their fair share of beatings and didn't phase them. Very glad I did the upgrades! It was also the first time I've had the PRP seats on the trail, and am very happy with their comfort.
Yeah it was definitely a good trip. I was a little surprised to see snow up top, but the run off and water holes added a unique challenge in areas I've been in the summer.
My "build" has been put on the side burner for a while with my wife and I in the process of buying our first house, however I did get to go out and enjoy Browns camp for a couple days.
Here's a little video as well.
I like your Build. I will be also building a TJ. Here in Colorado we have a lot of awesome trails. Can not wait to get mine going. Once I have it started I will start a thread. When I can I will post a pic of a TJ my buddy let me drive. Awesome ride.
Here is My Buddy's Jeep. It is a 99 TJ. It has a 5.5" lift 1" body with 37's. This is roughly how mine will be looking Minus the Front Fenders. The Axles are mine for when I get my rig going. Front and rear are Air locked and have (we are thinking) 4:88's. This Rig here Changed me to get a Jeep.
She's a 2004 Viking 1706, weighs in at 1450 loaded down. So far I flipped the axle, changed the hubs to match the jeeps 5x4.5 lug pattern, and added new wheels and tires.
No rubbing. I added some cheap 1/2" spacers to make sure they wouldn't rub, but the springs on that thing are so stiff, even with me inside hopping up and down, all the give is in the tires.
Nothing too exciting today, replaced the bags on my tailgate organizer, in preparation for a weekend trip to browns camp. Also added a camo "trauma" first aid kit. The larger bag holds a tow rope, folding shovel and jumper cables, the smaller green bag has a couple ratchet straps, spare belt, tire repair kit, and another tow rope.
I'll be posting pics next week sometime of the trip to browns camp, meeting my brothers with a lifted MJ, their buddy with a yota, and my dad with a stock JKU
Wow it’s been a long time since I’ve been on here. I disconnected from the inter-web for a while and it was refreshing… since 2017 things have been slow but there has been some progress on the build.
I finished up 2017 by doing some light wheeling in browns camp. I added a harness bar and 5 points to the front seats.
2018- I FINALLY got around to regearing. Went with 4:88’s and a detroit locker on the rear, kept the lunch box up front. Along with the regear I found a set of poison spyder diff covers for cheap.
Wheeling for the year was limited to a few trips to browns camp, continued to be impressed with how it handled anything I would throw at it.
2019- Probably the best year honestly… I ended up taking the Jeep to Moab, which was awesome! Had a blast, was able to do everything I wanted to accomplish, the jeep performed flawlessly.
Before going to Moab I added a new bumper, steering box skid, and door skins all by poison spyder.
After Moab I had a leaky rear axle seal, so I decided it was a good opportunity to upgrade the Dana 44 with some chromoly axles. I finished 2019 by redoing the front ball joints, front axle shafts chromoly, front drive shaft, full exhaust by magnaflow, and took out the 2”BL replaced it with a JKS 1.25” BL.
2020- wheeling trip for this year was heading east to the Blue Mountains near Tollgate, and wheeling in the snow. This was a first for me, I learned a lot and had a blast! Fresh powder is like nothing else I’ve been in.
