Coolant flow / flush

04 TJ/automatic. Now that I finally have the death wobble resolved thanks to a number of you. I’m moving on to other items. Was planning to do a full coolant flush this weekend and noticed the hoses may not be connected in the right order. There was a new radiator installed prior to my purchase so I’m thinking maybe they didn’t reattach everything correctly. Which is a high probability. Is there any reason these are correct as they are now? See pics.

Hoses look connected to the correct locations. What looks out of place to you?

I do see a few things:

• Upper radiator hose (left arrow) doesn't look like its fully seated. I can't remember if it needs to be above or below the ridge in the water neck.
• Worm gear clamp (right arrow) on the water pump isn't ideal. Next change, I would track down a constant tension clamp. I think the size is 55 in that location. Constant tension clamp thread

Based on recent experience I think it needs to be above the first ridge. I recently replaced pump, thermostat, etc. And first time pushed it past that ridge, it leaked. Second try above the ridge and it is all good.

Just looked back at my pictures and I can confirm above the ridge is correct.

thanks for the feedback, I’ll look at those items. I wasn’t as clear as I thought I was, see the hoses going into the heater core. Are those connected to the right port? Diagrams I have seen show the hoses cross so the top hose goes into the lower heater core port and vice versa. Mine don’t do that right now.

I found an older thread that says it doesn’t matter. When I pull off the hoses to run the flush I’ll see if the bigger port is on top.

From what I recall there is an o-ring on the petcock. Maybe you need a new one?

Thanks. I’ve been playing around with a few different sizes. The frustrating part is this radiator was installed probably a year or so before I bought it. Looks to be a cheap one. This is the petcock, see pic.

New rad installed. Lost patience after new Petcock didn’t do much. Figured it was a tiny crack somewhere. $200 was worth it. Next time I do a flush I’m just removing the hose. Painful.
