Regearing my axles to 4.88 from 4.11. Wondering if anyone would be willing to give me some input on my gear pattern. For context, it's at 0.005" backlash. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is after taking out 5 thou behind the pinion. Backlash is set to 0.005". Thanks for taking a look.
Are you mixing the gear paint down with gear oil? Only paint about 4-5 teeth. Need pressure/drag on the pinion as you rotate the gears.

You are now shallow. Add 3 and see. I don't think your previous pattern was far off. Add the 3 and you will be very close.
Alright, I stepped up the pinion depth 4 thou and not much of a change. I would like to try other depths but the shim kit included in my rebuild set really only lets me change in about 4 thou increments. Backlash is at 0.008". What do you guys think?

I like your first pattern best. If you don't have the shims to change 1 or 2 thou, I would go back to the original. When you do, only add enough marking compound to turn them yellow. They don't need to be saturated. Apply good resistance with your hand while turning the ring gear. Post it up and see if it looks better than the first.

Sorry for the late response. Was able to get this pattern which I am plenty happy with. Thanks again for the help. Gears have been silent BTW.
