Has anyone been following the Banks Power series on diff covers? There is an interesting argument for a stock style cover beyond our clearance concerns.
There are at least 4 videos on the topic and maybe more to come. The see through covers are nice. I never thought about the importance of smooth transitions around the ring gear, but it makes sense.I do. Really interesting. At least for me it is.
Like the one they use the clear diff cover.
Have you see that one yet?
Im pretty sure the ProRock housing cover is proprietary. As the ProRock 44 housing is vastly different than a standard Gen 1 Dana 44.Does anyone have feedback or comments on the Dynatrac Prorock Diff Cover for the Dana 44? Any clearance issues on a TJ? There is one new for sale in my area but want to make sure there are no clearance issues. I read Barnett covers are nice but not sure they are still in business.

The Barnett? It does exactly what it needs to do and nothing else.$100+ is kind of crazy for a cheap factory Dana cover. Im sure it does it’s job. ...
The overall dims aren't all that useful. They don't tell you if the critical parts of the upper portion will clear. However, I do think that silly skull would interfere with my steering. That is the beauty of the Barnett. We know that the upper half of the stock cover will clear, so they left it alone. All the armor is located where it needs to be.It would be nice if some manufacturers actually posted drawings with posted dimensions for us TJ guys. I got Ballistic Fab to add them a few months ago in another forum thread.

They are built specifically for the TJ/LJ Rubicon and built to clear the track bars and steering components. But at $189 it aint cheap.
Solid is well documented to not clear the track bar without a lot of bump stop extension. I know a guy who cut his up into a SOLI cover to make it work. The Solid Axle Ind covers are prob the best bang for the buck at $65. Thats really hard to beat.

I've been looking at the Metalcloak cover. Looks basic and effective. Good price as well.

Thanks for the heads up.I have it for my Dana 30. It’s very thick and heavy. The metalcloak trackbar clears on my Jeep with the front shocks at full compression.
If I were to do it over again (and I still may) I would get the Barnett style. I had a MC gift certificate so it was free.
MC positives:
Heavy duty
Low enough profile to clear my trackbar
Has lower drain plug
MC negatives:
They raised the fill plug which puts it directly in line with the tie rod
You have be conscious of how much fluid you fill it with because of that raised fill plug
