After changing the light switch as my headlights would turn on and off when turning them on, i have now fixed this problem though the speed odemer won't light up when i turn them on. All other lights work on the dash, the only issue is when i turn my headlights on the odometer won't light up so i can see it at night.

Can anyone help me understand why?

I replaced the headlight switch with a DS357.

The lights work for the tach, fuel, battery, etc? Then it might just be a coincidence that the bulb for your speedo is bad.

So it turns out, when I turn the light knob all the way until it clicks to turn the inside light on, the dashboard lights light up as well. Meaning, the only way to see the dash board light is when the inside car light is on.

Not sure why.

Are you talking about all of the instrument cluster lights or just some (like some area around the speedometer)?

If it's all of them, there may be a wiring issue or an issue with the switch you installed (like, it's not the right one). If it's only a section, I'm guessing bulb or bulb connection. In either case, the cluster lights that work should dim/brighten with the rotary control on the light switch (same one that turns on the dome light when fully twisted).
