Dog breeds

My wife and I have always had Sighthounds. Over the years we've had Irish Wolfhounds, Borzoi, Greyhound rescues and a couple years ago we got a Silken Windhound.

Here's Aero in the new to me TJ the other night.

Here's Jett, a 4 month old Borzoi.

How are Borzoi's compared to greyhounds? I love greyhounds and their derpy cat/horse/deer/ whatever you wanna call them personality. So nice and rewarding to see them grow and develop as a house pet after they have been on the track.

Some pics of my sweet Maddie girl. She has all the sass

Read the entire thread. All lovely dogs here. I am a big fan of the bigger breeds and always had a Rottweiler or Mastiff of some sort. Mostly mixed breeds have been adopted. Regardless of breed, one will seldom find a companion as giving and faithful as a dog. Take care of your dog and they will literally die for you.

At some point we had four dogs roaming around. An adopted Boston Terrier, an adopted bulldog, an adopted American Bulldog/Boxer mix and a French Mastiff.

Bella, the American Bulldog Boxer mix is still around and still thinks she’s a puppy. She just turned 12

Dogs are the greatest, most loyal companions anyone could ask for; they are truly members of our family. We'd always had German Shepherds and Black Labs, then about 15 years ago, we adopted our first Mastiff (specifically a Cane Corso) and have fallen in love with the breed. We're now on Mastiff #"s 4 and 5, having had 3 Cane Corsos, 1 Neapolitan Mastiff and one Presa Canario.

These are the two we currently have. The black is our female Corso, Bya and the brindle is our male Presa, Chevy. Both are rescue dogs who were back yard breeders in a previous life before they were surrendered by owners who were apparently 'done with them'...I just can't wrap my head around that. We adopted both from a Mastiff rescue here in AZ; Bya 3 years ago (she's just about 5 now) and we adopted Chevy to be her companion around Christmas (he's almost 6). They both LOVE to go for rides; although we've never tried to fit them both in the TJ at the same time!

Love my mastiffs! My now six year old son misses the French Mastiff and gets teary eyed every time we mention his name. I think it’s time for a puppy.

Perfect age to start learning discipline and good companionship. Definitely want another mastiff myself. Just the right amount of chill and laid back as well as playfulness. Our Bella is very nurturing and should be a good scenario for a puppy for boundaries and such.

Borzoi are great dogs. We've always had sighthounds of some sort. A male Borzoi can be longer/taller than a greyhound and weigh up to 140lbs. They are more aloof than most other sighthounds. They have a double coat.... one that you see on the dog and one you see on everything the dog has been on.

Borzoi probably have the strongest prey drive of the sighthounds I've owned. They can be good with cats but you have to train them from an early age. Oh... and they love to run in busts but most of the time they hold the furniture down.

Dixie the Jeep Dog is a Jack Russell and is 9 years old. She has been riding shotgun with me for a about 3 or 4 years, and prior to that helped me recover from a motorcycle accident by being my constant companion. I got married last year and now Dixie and my wife both ride shotgun, with Dixie being on my wife’s lap.

Best dog I ever had was Cyrus, my Rottweiler. He was a good boy, but he died from cancer in 2010. The sweetest, most loyal dog I have even met. I cried my eyes out the day he died.

A few years later I wanted another dog, but we have a much smaller yard now. So I got one of the most vicious dogs I could find to protect the homestead. The dachshund. Best home security system ever. He was born late 2012. I brought his sister home too so he would have a friend.

Earlier this year a friend of mine wanted to give away a young male dachshund he bought for his daughter, she turned out to be allergic. We adopted Tucker at about 1 year old, and he is an idiot.

We are now a three dog family. With a garage cat to boot.

3 Rottis over the past 25 years. All totally different personalities but the new guy, a rescue at 5 years old loves to ride shotgun. He will sit up watching everything for hours. 300 highway miles and he won't lie down.
