Dreams: Do You Remember Them When You Wake Up?

That's funny, I’ve had that same dream a few times, and I graduated nearly 10 years ago. I usually wake up panicked for a few minutes.
I wouldn't have pegged you as following George Clinton looking for the mother ship.

In all fairness, I agree. I never would have pegged me for that guy either. I just tried it once and the experience was otherworldly. Actually what got me started was this documentary on Netflix called, “How to change your mind”. I highly recommend everyone watch it.
I rarely have vivid dreams i remember clearly later.but i usually remember my dreams for a couple minutes after waking and then they disappear from my memory unless i work hard on recalling the details several times

Last night, I had a vivid dream that I can't seem to shake off. In the dream, I found myself by a riverbank where a child was struggling in the water, on the verge of drowning. Without hesitation, I jumped in and pulled the child to safety. It was an intense experience that stayed with me long after waking up. According to this dream dictionary, it could symbolize an opportunity or a calling to help someone vulnerable. Perhaps this dream serves as a reminder to keep an eye out for those who may need a helping hand. Maybe a friend will reach out today to ask for help.
That would qualify as a nightmare for me (or at least portions of it would), as I can't swim, and one of my biggest fears is seeing a child struggling in the water, knowing that I likely would be unable to save them....
I swear we are somehow secret twins , ( both good and bad HA ) , this is my fear too ! Hopefully in Gods providence , neither of us is put in that situation .
If I shared my dreams, several 3 letter agencies would be at my door.
Not that this has any relevance to your dream, but reading it sparked memories, as I’ve been in that situation twice in my life. Not with children, but with friends who found themselves in a bad situation, and I went to get them. I haven't had any dreams about those situations, but sometimes the memories come back. One of the situations was a group of us floating/tubing down a decently calm river that was up a little, which I did often back then. My friend got caught in a current and taken to a strainer (logs caught up/death trap). She hit the logs and lost her tube instantly, which pulled her under. I had been trying to trail her, seeing where she was headed, so I was on top of where she went in within seconds, which was a long time in the moment. I had one mission and went in, grabbed her instantly and stood up. I don't know how, but everything just worked out. (I honestly believe I have a guardian angel who has kept my dumbass alive for some reason, I'm pretty sure I owe 'em quite a bit) I can't remember how, but I got us out of that situation with the only casualty being her bathing suit. A hell of a storm popped up within minutes as we got back to our truck.
My now wife was there and remembers it pretty vividly, and the girl involved told me a few years ago, years after the incident, that she still has nightmares from time to time and will not get back in a river.
The other incident was a flash flood situation where I pretty much grabbed my buddy by his hair right as he started losing his battle with the current and pulled his ass to the bank. You'd think I’d stay out of the water by now.
Edit; I have to confess, typing out that event with the logs brought a tear to my eye. Apparently it effected me a little more than I thought. That event was probably 12 years ago now.
