Durango power steering box swap issue

So I just replaced my power steering box with a 99 Durango one, and I'm having turning issues , I can only get one full turn to the left and 2 full to the right, I tried changing the position of the pitman arm and same result , please help ...

3.5 in Rubicon Express lift, with Rubicon heavy duty steering arms , drop pitman arm, sitting on 33s

I would call it a bad box.
I have the Durango gearbox and it is perfect.

Did you change anything else when you did the box.

Also i took a picture of the pitman arm location on mine while the wheels are at dead center

I'll check it when I come home right now, it did it with the OEM pitman arm also and the guy and 4 wheel parts said that with the lift to put a drop pitman arm and it did exactly the same thing , how many turns do you have each way ?

You will want to get rid of the drop pitman arm. Use OEM

I agree with removing the drop pitman arm.

I am 1.5 turns each direction.
Aproxx 3 turns lock to lock

Are is your steering wheel strait when your tires are centerd?

Yes it is straight ,drop pitman arm and stock one, same position.

I just dont understand , maybe the box is rebuilt wrong inside whatever I do always 1 left 2 right

That is so weird. You are 1/2 a turn off.

Unless the box is defective from the factory I have no clue, its bugging the hell out of me.

Ok i got the same thing in mine.

The good thing about that is they are good about returning them.

Since you need to replace the drop pitman arm anyway. I would pull the box and swap it out. At least its a very easy job.

A drop pitman arm can/may/possibly cause a bad bump stear problem.

But it sounds like an incorrect rebuild.

Unless the steering arms are off too , I bought them at a off road shop ,you'd think they knew what they were talking about?

Ok with those pictures i think i see what might be the issue. You need to find the center of the steering box. Hopefully that will mean your steering wheel is centered. If it is center when you have equal turns on each side. Then its a steering bar adjustment. That is easy and doesn't effect the toe.

I think it might be the steering arms , because they're adjusted all the way in on both ends

Probably is. When you are at full lock is you steering wheel upside down? If you are its not the box. And the easiest fix is to go get an alignment. Or you can do the alignment yourself. There is a thread in the FAQ section.

That is a beefy tie rod and link but the Link is too long by 3 or 4 inches for the application (if your wheels are straight). What did it come off of?
