Georgia does not have inspection requirements beyond emissions. I used to live in SC and would buy cars from GA with out converters since SC at the time didn’t have emissions inspections.
Issue is that Georgia also doesn’t have any consumer lemon laws for used cars.
Only course of action is to seek the assistance of a lawyer. Based on your statements you do have a course of action under the Georgia Fair Business Practices Act.
Section 10-1-393.b.7.
it will be harder without anything in writing.
I ran into an issue once with a 1995 Ford Lightning. Used dealership sold it as “all original”. Issue was that the transmission was repaired with incorrect parts installed. It blew on me about a week after I purchased it and found out about the issue when I took it in.
Only way I was able to get the dealership to take it back was after I had consulted a lawyer who referenced the above section of the Fair Business Practices Act in the letter he sent them.
I got a call from the dealer the next day. Was worth the fee I payed the lawyer for the refund of my money.
From a legal stand point this is the best advice I've heard, and it's nice to hear it from someone familiar with Georgia's laws. If the dealer won't react with any kind of moral decision then I will resort to this.
